CHAPTER THIRTEEN3 years ago....
13 year old Charlotte was certainly something. The young girl had already made her mind up about most things, her Aunt Violet always put emphasis on the fact that she was truly a young adult, because she had the emotional maturity of one.
It was a hot summers day, Charlotte - like most days then –was at her Aunts house. Her parents both worked and her Aunt was always home while her husband was off to work.
Over the years, the lack of her mother being there for here was never something that bothered her, because she had her Aunt, and when her she passed, it felt like Charlotte had lost apart of herself, but for now, her Aunt was alive and well taking care of her.
Charlotte ran in from the backyard, sweaty and dirty from playing around, but instead of scolding her for tracking in dirt, her Aunt flashed her a warm smile and beckoned her over. "Come here Charlotte." She beamed, holding her arms out. She was the only one who still called her that, the only person the young girl never corrected.
"How was your day my beautiful girl?." Charlotte giggled into her Aunts arms and let go to take a seat, Violet never bugged her about the dirt, she knew what her sister was like, and she also knew that she could clean it up later.
"It was good." Charlie smiled contently as her Aunt placed a cold glass of lemonade in front of her. "Anything worth noting?" Violet asked, beginning to slice an apple for the young girl. Charlotte smiled again and fished for her sketchbook in her small backpack that her Aunt had gifted her.
"I found a new flower!" The girl exclaimed, flipping to page, showing her Aunt the delicate drawing – A violet.
Her Aunt simply shook her head as she stared down at the drawing. "Thats beautiful Charlotte, Do you know what it is?"
The young girl shook her head in response. "Its a Violet."
Charlottes eyes lit up in excitement, ripping the page out and handing it over. "Then keep it! You share a name." She watched as Violet carefully pinned it to the fridge, coming around and engulfing Charlie in another hug. "Thank you my girl, I'll cherish it forever."

Charlie had now been picked up from her Aunts house by her parents, falling asleep quickly on the way over, trying to avoid her mothers complaints about the dirt she'd tracked into the car, but for once, her parents couldn't sway her mood, because she had been given a new favorite flower

The news came a few days later, one phone call from the hospital later.
Her Aunt Violet was dead, fatal car crash that killed more than just her Aunt that night.
Charlotte had felt like she'd lost her mother, the only person in the world who treated her like she had deserved.
From that day on, Charlie had changed, she no longer had someone to confide in, she no longer had a mother, because she was gone. All she had was the memories that Violet had left her with. Almost everyday spent in the sun, running around the yard laughing like a kid, knowing when she turned around her Aunt would be following.
Days spent in the winter, picking her up after school with a cup of hot cocoa sitting on the dash. Christmases full of gifts she still used today, because her parents never cared enough to know what she liked, birthdays, holidays and all the in-betweens, her parents fighting, and even when her parents were good.
Violet would be standing at the front door with her arms wide open, telling Charlotte that it would all be okay.
And even at her Aunts funeral, surrounded by all the people that loved her, she looked for Violets face in the crowd, hoping it was all a bad dream.
Even after three years gone, there was still nights Charlotte would call out for Violet like she was a little girl.
