CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
It was a fairly normal day so far after the shit show the group had endured the night before, Charlotte on walking through the hall deep in thought.
Last night they had found a deputy at the school, sacrificed, which was a sight for sore eyes to say the least. On top of that, Derek had gone missing the night after Boyd died, Stiles getting only a few cryptic answers out of Peter and Cora.
Charlie pushed the doors to the school opening, walking down one of the outside halls when she spotted Stiles horribly hiding behind a pillar.
"What are you doing weirdo." She asks from behind him, making Stiles jump at the scare.
He puts a finger over his mouth and beckons her over, leaning closer so he can whisper. "Over there." Stiles points.
His dad is stood across the hall talking to one of the teachers about something, probably pertaining to last night. "I'm trying to hear what they're saying."
Charlotte nods, ducking down further and watching along with him. "You can't even hear-"
"Hey!" The sheriff spots them from across the hall, striding towards them as the two start to scurry away like they weren't just watching them closely.
"Hey, back it up." He calls from behind them, making the two turn around guiltily.
"Hello sheriff." Charlotte coughs. The two haven't properly met before, other than their run in a few weeks ago at the house, making this even more awkward.
Noah nods at her curtly. "Friend of Stiles?" He asks, holding his hand out to shake. "Yes sir, I'm new in town." The girl responds nervously, shaking his hand.
"Call me Noah." he smiles, turning back to his son. "She's been here only a few weeks and you're getting her into trouble?"
Stiles face falls into a betrayed look, not justifying his question with an answer, Charlie laughing next to him. "I think I like you're dad more than you Stiles." She chuckles, making Stiles elbow her in the side.
Noah shakes his head gently, Stiles death glaring at her. "Sorry, I'll leave you two." Charlotte smiles, bidding the two a goodbye before walking away, letting them talk.
-✵-
Charlotte had found herself with a free period once again, walking into the locker room to change before she went for a quick run, putting in her combination and swinging the locker door open.
But before she can change into something more suitable for running, she hears a loud slam from wall - the boys locker room.
She shuts her locker quickly and runs in finding Aiden pushed up against the locker, Coras wrists in the tight grasp of his right hand, choking her with the other hand.
"Let her go!" Charlotte yells, catching his attention as he throws Cora to the floor, Lydia running to check on her as Charlie stands with her hands out at Aidan warningly.
"I dare you." She growls, the boy taking it as a challenge as he surges forward, trying to take a swing on her but narrowly missing. As the girl steps out of the way, he steps forward, catching her throat between his hands.
Aiden picks the girl up, her feet kicking back and forth as she claws at his hands.
Charlotte can feel all her breath leaving her, making the anger rise up in her chest as she lets out a blood curdling scream, squeezing his arms harshly, her hands igniting into flames and burning his flesh.
