DAISY
Lately i've been getting called into work urgently more often than im used to.
This time, it's Mrs presnor calling me in to have a meeting. Not just any meeting, it's a one to one meeting.
I'm not quite sure what I did that requires her to call me in for a one to one meeting, and I don't think I want to know. From my guess, I think it's about Preston.I walk into the building, the surrounding silent as I let my heels make the most noise out of all.
Once I reach the reception desk, I grab my files and head to Mrs presnors office.I never realised how many people are staring at me until I turn my body around to face the rest of the office.
Usually they all whisper behind my back, but instead...they're all silent. Eyes all pointed at me as I stare back at them in confusion.I don't know whether I should be concerned or scared.
Maybe both.I ignore whatever zombie apocalypse situation they have going on and go straight to Mrs presnors room.
Once I'm outside I knock on the door.
'Come in'
I step inside the office, closing the door behind me before taking a seat on one of her white leather chairs.'Grace, you wanted to see me?'
I call her by her first name. When no one's around I call her grace, but when people are present, I call her Mrs presnor. She claims it's so everyone knows their place when they associate with her, but I'm not sure anyone even cares.'Yes dear, it's lovely to see you' she smiles widely, which creeps me out, giving that she never ever smiles. Not even if it's her son's birthday.
'Is everything alright? You asked to see me urgently'
She clasps her hands together, resting her arms on her desk as she looks at me with determine.
'I'm guessing you have not seen the news yet?'
Her smile fades away. She's now back to being the bitter woman she always is.I sigh, trying to seem upset about the situation when really I couldn't give two fucks.
'I have. I'm shocked to say the least'
Before I can say anything more she scoffs.
'There is nothing shocking about it dear, Preston is innocent' yeah right...and I'm a cow.'Right...' I pause awkwardly before watching her grab a tissue from the tissue box and wipe her invisible tears.
This is getting more awkward by the minute.
A few seconds pass with her just tapping her dry powdered face. I clutch on my files, trying to distract myself from sleeping.
'Daisy, dear. I called you here because I need to talk to you about something'
I snap awake and look at her with curiosity.
I wait for her to talk, not knowing what else to say.'I need you and Preston to get married'
.........
I cannot tell if she's joking or being serious.
I chuckle awkwardly at her sentence which makes her eyebrow raise. Oh she's being serious...
'I'm sorry grace but as I said a million times before. Me and Preston have ended our relationship a long time ago, and I have no intentions of getting back together'
My words might've came out more harsher than usual, but if she keeps going on with begging me to get married to her son then I have no other choice but to be straight forward.'Is this because of his arrest? If it is then I'm telling you now that what he did really has nothing got to do with him'
At this point I don't think she understands. The moment me and Preston broke up, I decided from that point I would never be with him again. I explained this to her many times, yet she's still going to act delusional no matter what I say.
