Kate pov
"our first game is in a week," Bluder tells us.
"guys, this morning when I was making my scrambled eggs, I had a double yoke. which is good luck," Caitlin says.
A/N- yes im actually quoting Caitlin ♥️♥️
"what?" I laugh.
"it means we're going to win," she says. "it's a sign."
"okay, Caitlin," Bluder says.
I run down the court, dribbling the ball. we split the team in half to scrimmage.
I look down the court and see Caitlin standing in the corner and I pass her the ball. she shoots a three and it swishes in.
"THREEEEE!!" she yells, holding up three fingers.
Gabbie dribbles the ball up the court and passes it to AJ who goes up for a layup. I run over and quickly block her shot.
"AYYYYYEEEE!!" Caitlin yells, dabbing me up.
"Kate! switch with kanise!" Lisa yells.
I go and sit on the bench and watch the scrimmage.
Caitlin slowly dribbles the ball up the court.
her hair is in her messy practice bun. her forehead is covered in sweat. even though she is wearing the same practice jersey as everyone, it looks best on her. her long legs look smooth as they move gracefully to get her to the other side of the court. she stops and pulls up for a long step back three and it swishes in. Gabbie looks embarrassed because she wasn't able to guard her. Caitlin is the best in the country. it's so fucking hot.
"Kate!" syd yells.
I come out of my delusions. "yeah?"
"I've been trying to get your attention forever," she says. "Jesus, your cheeks look like a tomato."
"uh- it's because I was just playing," I claim.
"I've seen your face when you play," she smiles. "it's nowhere near as red as it is right now."
"hmm, that's weird," I say.
"how are things with you and Laura?" syd asks.
"they haven't really changed," I say.
"do you want them to?"
"im not sure," I tell her.
"I have a question," she says.
"okay.."
"do you like, feel something for Caitlin?" she asks. "sorry if this is overstepping, I know you two are best friends. but I've seen the way that you look at her. and you hate Connor with a passion."
"no!" I yell. "sorry for yelling, but I just wanted to make it clear that I don't. she is my best friend. I love her. as a friend. friend. I would never mess that up."
she raises her eyebrows and smirks, "okay."
"alright ladies, bring it in," Bluder yells.
we all gather in a circle and put our hands in, "hawks on three, one two three, hawks!" we all yell.
I start walking away when Caitlin runs to catch up with me.
"hey!" she says out of breath.
"hi, you did good," I smile.
"so did you," she replies. "that block was really good."
"well your step backs will always shock me," I tell her.
"im the best," she jokes. "do you wanna hang out?"
"yeah," I reply. "what do you want to do?"
"do you remember that frat party we went to a few years ago?" she asks.
"which one?"
"the one in the huge house. with the piano," she reminds me.
"oh, yeah," I say.
"they're throwing a big party tonight," she tells me.
"we're going," I decide.
she smiles and her cheeks get pink before she looks away.
