ZAHRA NICHOLS

Just a few hours ago, Charles and Amara had to go, leaving the house feeling strangely quiet for a little while. That was until mom came home, and decided to start decluttering the entire house. As of now, she's probably throwing things we actually need in boxes to throw away or donate.

Ever since Charles and Amara left, I'd been watching 'Grey's Anatomy' nonstop. At some. point I ordered a smoothie bowl, it isn't very appetizing, but I'm convincing myself it tastes okay.

Just as I was getting comfortable, and the plot thickening, my phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, I saw Charles' name flashing on the screen, and a FaceTime request.

"Hey,"

"Hi,"

Then, the sharp sound of a clash echoed through the house.

"Okay, what's your mom up to this time?"

"Decluttering, for clarity of mind apparently,"

"Oh no! She's gonna throw away Zac!"

"Shut up! And frankly, I'm quite offended that you think I'd let Zac go!"

"Well, that's called attachment issues, and it's most likely unhealthy,"

"Anyway, what are you up to?"

"Cleaning and packing before I leave. You?"

"I'm supposed to be picking classes,"

"Okay, what are you actually doing,"

"Binging 'Grey's Anatomy' and eating a $12 smoothie bowl that tastes like ass,"

"Well, start picking classes!"

"Ugh, later,"

"Hey, when does your flight leave tomorrow?"

"I have to be at the airport by four,"

"PM?"

"Yes,"

"Okay, that means at 3:59 I will be sending you a heartbreaking goodbye video,"

"Actually, can you drive me there? I just turned in the rental car,"

"Yeah sure, I'll be at your place at 3:30,"

"Thanks, Zahra,"

That call went on for a good five hours. At one point, we weren't even talking, just doing our own things. I was folding laundry while Charles wiped counters.
