After a day full of cleaning, the trio found themselves in the cafeteria to accomplish the last task the headmage gave them. They all looked around in curiosity, seeing the dark tables, the ornate chandelier, and the various windows that they needed to clean. Grim climbed down from his spot between (Y/N)'s horns and grumbled as he walked over to one of the tables, frustrated.
"I'm already exhausted from a full day of cleanin'. I can't believe we still gotta wash a hundred windows!" Grim whined as he sat down, rubbing his face with his paws.
"Try to learn from this experience," Yuuken said as he set the cleaning tools down, (Y/N) immediately getting everything ready to clean the windows, grabbing various cleaning products and mixing it together in a bucket to create the perfect window cleaning solution. "(Y/N), you don't have to do that, you know. We have window cleaner right here," Yuuken told them as he held up the window cleaner spray, but (Y/N) simply shook their head and continued mixing stuff together. They didn't want to use that little bottle to clean the windows, not trusting that it would do an excellent job. Yuuken sighed, feeling like he wouldn't be able to get (Y/N) to stop, and went back to focusing on Grim's complaints.
"Honestly, what's buggin' me is, Ace ain't even here yet! To make us wait after what he did... Grrr!"
"Let's just wait a few minutes for him to get here," Yuuken said, trying to reason the ginger's absence. And so they waited for his arrival. Minutes soon turned to hours, and Grim only got more and more furious. (Y/N) had finished creating their cleaning mixture and while they were only tasked with watching over everyone, they had decided to help out and began washing some of the windows.
"... And now he's super late!" Grim shouted as he got up, stomping his foot on the ground. "I bet he up and bailed on us!"
"We should go look for him," Yuuken said as he also got up, sighing as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Ain't no way am I doin' his punishment for him! C'mon, human, I don't care if we gotta drag him kickin' and screamin', he's washin' those windows!"
"Hey, (Y/N), you coming along?" Yuuken asked as he turned his head to look at the vessel, receiving a simple shake of the head in response. Yuuken nodded in response and the human and monster soon left the cafeteria, leaving (Y/N) alone to continue their cleaning. They had to admit that the room was a bit more peaceful now that it was just them and they felt more relaxed. As they continued cleaning, they were able to see various people walking about outside, watching people moving this way and that, small groups of people conversing with each other, it was interesting. What they were unable to notice, however, was a man with a fedora watching them all the way from the nearest hallway, observing them in curiosity.
