"Begone! Begone! Begooone!" The monster roared as he slashed his pickaxe, sending Deuce flying to the opposite side of the mine. Deuce cried out in pain as his back hit the hard stone wall behind him, feeling the wind getting knocked out of his lungs.

"Aw crap, he's got Loosey-Deucey on the ropes!" Ace shouted as he got his magic pen out, reading to defend his classmate. The Ramshackle trio watched as Ace ran into the fight, only to get knocked back by the monster with a fierce roar and a hit by its lantern. (Y/N) took Grim off their head and handed him over to Yuuken before deciding that now was an appropriate time to interfere.

"Myaah! (Y/N), come back here!" Grim cried from Yuuken's arms, an alarmed and worried expression on both of their faces. Deuce and Ace could only look up weakly at the imposing pickaxe swinging down at the two, only to be stopped by the clash of a nail. Looking down to its owner, the duo were surprised to see (Y/N) standing before them, holding back the large weapon from harming them with their own. With a mighty swing, (Y/N) pushed the pickaxe away from them, taking a defensive stance and catching the attention of the inky monster. The vessel quickly moved away from the monster, keeping its attention and giving Ace and Deuce the opportunity to run away which they gladly took. The ink monster swung its pickaxe down, but (Y/N) quickly managed to dodge and slash their nail upwards. Unfortunately, it was not enough to harm it, but enough to cut some of the fabric off its red shirt. The sounds of metal clashing against metal and monstrous roars reverberated through the mine as nail met pickaxe. To everyone around, it should be impossible for the vessel to stay standing when it so easily defeated Ace and Deuce, but it seemed like they were taking care of it... at least, that was it seemed.

In reality, (Y/N) was having a bit of trouble mentally while fighting this thing. They could see that the monster was only fighting through sheer instincts and while it would be easy to defeat a beast like that, the unpredictable attacks matched with its large, lumbering form made it slightly difficult for them to figure out a good pattern of attack. They could've used some extra power into their swing, but they felt that doing so would cause a cave in and harm their companions more. At this moment, they could only dodge and parry attacks as they assessed the monster's attacks. As their weapons clashed, (Y/N) was being moved backwards and inching closer towards the group, though they tried their best to stand their ground. Seeing the huge monster getting closer to the group, Grim decided to try to fire off some magic to make it back off a little.

"Myaaah! Stay away from us!" Grim cried as he spewed a fire spell from his mouth, shooting past (Y/N) and striking the ink creature. Unfortunately, it looked like that blast didn't affect the creature in the slightest, continuing to swing and slash at the defending vessel. "It's like nothin's even hurtin' it!"
