"Bwah?! Housewarden!" Ace cried in a mix of shock and slight fear as he locked eyes with his housewarden, the latter standing right behind him with his arms crossed, an air of authority around him.
"Hey, Riddle! What's shakin', pal?" Cater asked with a nervous smile as he tried to ease up some of the tension. "You're lookin' adorbs, as always!"
"Hmph. Cater, keep running that mouth and you'll lose it - along with the rest of your head," Riddle warned as he looked over to the internet lingo upperclassman, who quickly raised his hands to his head in surrender.
"Sorry, sorry! My bad!"
"Myah?! You're the guy who put that stupid collar on me at the orientation ceremony!" Grim shouted in shock before a gloved hand muffled his shouts, Yuuken sighing and apologizing for his bluntness.
"And you're the new students who were nearly expelled yesterday," Riddle retorted as he gave a glare towards the small monster. "I'll ask that you not refer to my signature spell as a 'stupid collar.' The headmage's habit of tolerating rulebreakers like you is going to send this entire campus spiraling into chaos one day. Those who break the rules should have their heads removed immediately, without exception."
"Dude, seriously? This guy looks like a wimp, but talks like a monster!" Ace whispered as he scooted away slightly, swallowing the lump in his throat.
Either Riddle didn't hear him or just flat out ignored him, but he just continued looking at Yuuken and Grim as he spoke. "The headmage may have forgiven you, but if you break any further rules, I assure you I will not."
Ace gulped and took a deep breath before clearing his throat, getting the attention of his housewarden. "So, uh, listen, housewarden, sir... Any chance I could get you to remove this collar?" Ace nervously asked as he gave a shaky smile, pointing to the collar around his neck. Truthfully, he had almost gotten used to having it around his neck, the only thing reminding him that it was still there being the heavy weight on his shoulders and his inability to use magic. He was just so used to having his magic at hand that he didn't really feel right without it, as if a piece of his very soul was missing.
"I had intended to remove it once you'd taken an opportunity to reflect upon your crimes." Riddle started, but based on his tone it seemed like he wasn't going to do that. "But I've not detected so much as a hint of remorse in the foolishness I've heard you spout today. So I think I'll let you keep that for a while. Don't worry. The freshman curriculum is more focused on magical theory than practice. And your inability to use magic will help prevent incidents along the lines of what happened yesterday. Now, if you've finished your meal, you should quit gossiping and prepare for your next class. Rule 271 is quite clear: 'One must leave the table within fifteen minutes of completing their lunch.' You DO understand what happens to rulebreakers, I trust?"
