The lambs, the sheep, falcons, deer, the ram-horns.

The wolves, the foxes, the hawks.

The Hunters of were-creatures and vampires date back to a time that is immeasurable. Many believe that the hunters were created to spite the Goddess.

More human, and yet not human enough, the Hunters are strange in themselves. Gifted with heightened senses or special gifts, they were bred and created specifically for hunting. A Hunter is born into this profession with natural urges to go after and avenge human kind.

To many of the mythical creatures they are referred to as prey or as small animals of prey.

Those of higher status and stronger rankings are referred to as animals in the predator category.

The mouse, the fish, the sparrow.
The tiger, the hound, the wolverine.

Whatever they may be called they are Hunters.

Dating back to the earlier records in 1406, the Hunters easily fit in with humans. They, themselves, can call themselves humans. With gifts of quicker agility or enhanced strength, Hunters were originally hired by small towns to rid them of any mythical beings. This soon became an ongoing battle to which the Hunters could not match up with.
In 1417 a group of Hunters banded together and created the still ongoing home of the Hunters.

The Hosts of the Hunt is the official home to the Hunters that remains highly secretive to both regular humans and those in the mythical realm. It never remains in one spot and is only used to report back if any significant killings happen.

The hunters have no leader but rather a large agreement between factions that everyone should hunt those of mythical beings. They are predators to anyone of the supernatural family.

Rather than being ranked like a werewolf of Alpha, Beta, Delta, etc. A hunter is based on specific skills that fall either through family lineage or through that of their choosing. A Hunter cannot be a hunter if they don't fall in to at least one of these groups. They wouldn't be a hunter if they didn't fall in to specific groups.

-The Ungulates
These Hunters are referring to as 'hoofed animals'. Sheep, deer, moose, etc.
Those in this group tend to work in groups of three or more. They are the only hunters that work in select groups. The majority of this group goes after creatures of higher dangers such as Alpha wolves, werebears, and vampires of older age.
All hunters take on attributes from the animal that is under their rank. Examples are:
A moose would be more of a powerhouse with the strengthened ability to attack straight on while someone ranked as a Deer would use their legs as a better weapon than their fists.

-The Aves
These Hunters follow the names of birds.
Hawks, falcons, sparrows, owls.
These Hunters specialize in vampires or large groups of were-creatures rather than individuals. They work alone and are usually gifted with better eyesight or senses. Most of these are skilled in trapping or attacking from above.
Examples would be:
An Owl would hunt at night and would have enhanced vision in darker environments.
A Hawk would be someone who strikes from above.
Etc.

-The Felidae
Referred to as anyone in the feline family, these are considered higher ranks than those above.
Maine coon, bobcat, lion.
These Hunters are usually sent out beyond the United States to take care of threats beyond it. They are skilled in sneak hunts or will often hunt any supernatural creature in the areas where humans might be lingering.

The Canines
The canines are considered the most dangerous of Hunters. There are only three in this group.

The wolves, the hounds, the foxes.

Coming to the most strict and extreme groups of Hunters they actually are not allowed to hunt with anyone else. Once given their ranks they are meant to set off on their own and hunt on their own. These hunters are specifically made to hunt entire packs or even covens by infiltrating said groups and reporting to the entire Host of the Hunt large meetings.

The Wolves
The wolves are a select and very small group of hunters. They are considered most important for the entirety of the Hunters. They are Hunters that are turned into werewolves and sent to specific packs as spies. They are given a year long period to live out as a werewolf before they are willingly killed by their fellow hunters.

The Hounds
This group is actually sent to covens to be turned to vampires. Much like the Wolves they are allowed this gift for a year and a year alone before they are killed by their fellow Hunters.

The Foxes
The foxes are often considered backstabbers but they are a very special case in the entirety of the Hunters. They are meant to infiltrate packs and covens as victims and can remain in these groups for several years if needed. If they don't report to the Host of the Hunt at least once a year they are sought out and murdered.
