CHAPTER THIRTEEN: KICKIN' IT
❝ esqueleto ❞STANDING outside the locked doors of Cobra Kai, Molly and Miguel waited for Johnny. The girl was sitting on the ground, leaning against Miguel's legs as he stood against one of the glass doors. They had been waiting for about ten minutes, Molly texting Eli in between complaining about her dad being late and the sun being too bright.
Eventually, Johnny pulled up in his red Pontiac, sighing as he got out. Miguel pulled Molly up off of the ground as the man walked over to the two teens.
"Hey, Sensei, you told us to be here at five, right?" Miguel asked once Johnny was a few feet away.
"Yeah, but today's training's canceled."
"What? You're telling me I could still be at," Molly trailed off when she realized Miguel was looking at her with a raised eyebrow. "The place I was before I came here."
The boy chuckled at her secrecy before she began questioning why her dad had canceled training. Johnny answered with a simple "Because I said so" to which Molly rolled her eyes. There were times when she could accept that as an answer but this was not one of them.
The two teens made eye contact before grabbing onto the closing door and rushing into the building. They followed Johnny into his office, Miguel grabbing his laptop out of his backpack while Molly grabbed her phone from her back pocket.
"Sensei, there's something that I wanna show you," Miguel said, Molly clearing her throat with a glare at the boy's head. "We want to show you something."
"Look, I'm really not in the mood," Johnny told the pair as he grabbed a beer from his mini fridge.
"Come on, Dad," Molly smiled as she sat on his desk. "We know that you'll like it."
Miguel kneeled down on the ground, setting his now open laptop on the chair. Molly opened the Instagram app, switching to the new profile that she had created earlier in the day.
"It's a Cobra Kai webpage, right? I made it in study hall. Click on the snake," Miguel explained as he looked up at the Lawrence man.
Johnny looked back at Molly who nodded excitedly at him. The man looked back at the laptop, pressing on the snake. It hissed before revealing a login screen.
"Okay, this is the sign-in page," Miguel explained as he typed in his login information. "I was thinking, we can make an app where you track your progress, get a social media campaign going, get it out to the whole school. Molly's already started on that. The possibilities are endless!"
Molly smiled as her dad looked back at her.
"Like Miggy said, I already started on the social media end of things. I made Cobra Kai an Instagram account. It's an app where you can post pictures, videos, and live stream," the girl explained as she hopped off of her dad's desk. "I made an aesthetic looking schedule of the classes you're offering and posted it. I also posted an 'about us' thing that hopefully will draw people in."
Miguel's phone began playing "Round and Round" by Ratt, Molly nodding at the boy's new ringtone. He let it go to voicemail, explaining to the father and daughter that it was just his mom. Johnny asked if the ringtone had been Ratt, Miguel responding with an excited ramble about eighties music.
"Alright. Meet me at the high school at midnight," Johnny told the pair as he sat his beer down on the desk. "Don't be late. You wanna learn how to kick ass? First, you gotta learn how to kick."
