CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR: MILK DUDS MADE ME CRAZY
❝ molting ❞

FORGETTING to mention to your boyfriend and the rest of your friends that you invited your other friend without asking them isn't always the best thing. Molly realized this when she picked up Eli last for their movie outing and he saw Demetri sitting in the back seat between Aisha and Miguel. She had felt bad about not inviting Demetri but having everyone else in their friend group there so the day prior when they were playing Dungeon Lord, she had asked if he wanted to go with them.

"What's he doing here," Eli asked quietly for only Molly to hear. "We didn't invite him."

"I forgot to mention that I sort of invited him yesterday when we were playing," the girl said as she looked over at the boy. "I felt bad that we were hanging out without him."

Eli scoffed quietly as he looked out the window, Molly shrinking in her seat as she realized that he was upset with her. She turned the stereo up in hopes of drowning her feelings out as she drove the group to the theater. Demetri was the only one in the backseat to take notice of the girl's shift in mood, making a mental note to ask her about it later.

It wasn't a long drive which Molly was thankful for as she parked her car. The five of them got out, Molly grabbing her bag and keys before following after her friends. Both Eli and Demetri were waiting for her, the former wrapping his arm around her waist when she caught up to the pair.

"Hey, I'm sorry for being upset," Eli said quietly to her as he pressed a kiss to her temple. "I didn't mean to make you feel bad."

Molly looked up at him, only smiling when she saw the genuine look in his eyes. She quietly accepted the boy's apology as she leaned her head against his arm. Demetri watched the two from the corner of his eye, wondering what had happened in the car and now.
