The ambiance of the living room was depleted. As I remained seated, pressing a bag of cold peas against the knot on Trey's forehead, he had a tissue shoved in his nose to control the bleeding.

We were sat in silence since Daniel dropped us off at home.

Trey knew he was in the wrong so I had no lecture or speech prepared for him. All he had was his guilty conscience to keep him in check.

"We need to talk before I head back to Atlanta tonight." Trey murmured.

"Sure, we need to talk but you're not driving to Atlanta at 2am with a swollen eye and a sprained ankle." I immediately countered him. Trey didn't even bother to argue, he remained silent as he stared past me, looking straight at a window. He looked exhausted. "But let's talk about what the hell just happened—"

"Why didn't you tell me, mom?" Trey suddenly asked a question that seemed to be on his mind since we entered the house. My eyebrows furrowed looking at him with a confused expression, removing the iced peas from his forehead.

"Tell you what?" I cocked my brow at him.

"What's been happening to you. How he's been beating you." Trey said quietly.

I paused momentarily, wondering how he knew that was initially what I was planning to discuss with him. I wanted to finally tell the truth about his father and I, but then the fight with JK happened, completely changing the pressing issue at hand.

"How did you find out?" I asked in confusion.

"He told me." Trey said, answering my internal question of how he knew. And considering what happened tonight, I knew Trey was immature enough to not want to use Jungkook's name so I nodded my head, in confirmation. "And also, the way you were reacting when JK and I were fighting. I rose a bottle to hit him and you flinched, like I would ever hit you. I've always scared Destiny that I would hit her, sometimes raising my fist, but not once has she ever flinched. So that was the biggest give away."

"Oh." I murmured, not even realizing I flinched or I was making it that obvious. "Trey, look—"

"I knew you and dad never really got along. But honest to God, mom, I had no clue. I never knew it was that bad. The thing is, you didn't even hide it that well. I saw the bruises. But you were so good at brushing off things and acting happy, it never even crossed my mind once that you were getting beat. I just thought you were working too hard or something." Trey continued. "Why didn't you ever say?"
