Warnings: smut and light talks of alcoholism
Eddie didn't understand, for months you two had been the best roommates he could've ever asked for, so why on Earth were you telling him you planned to break the lease next month? there were only three months left on it and you had discussed re-signing together next year because the two of you fit so perfectly.
Hell, Eddie was hoping to work up the courage to tell you his feelings before you both re-signed so you could go into this next year together, together hopefully. He had decided he liked you before he even met you in person, the first phone call melting his heart as you reached out to inquire about his roommate ad after Gareth had moved in with his girlfriend. And then when he met you in person he knew he was in love. He spent some time trying to ignore it as he didn't want to make you uncomfortable in the first months living with a new male, but you guys clicked so well.
From late movie nights in the living room to fun Sunday dinners the two of you grew an amazing friendship over the first couple months. So, Eddie was crushed, absolutely destroyed at your omission and stayed silent as his mind floundered to comprehend the reality. Eventually you left him to stew in the silence of the living room and opted to run away to your room, where you'd be waiting if he wanted to talk.
You silently hoped he'd call your bluff, while your mind had every intention of going through with the plan you just laid out, you also knew your heart couldn't. You had been head over heels for the man the minute he whipped the door open to see you face to face. You were fine with denying the butterflies that flitted in your stomach from his gruff voice over the phone, but this? Fireworks shot off in your veins, scorching throughout you as the smell of cologne and weed slapped you in the face.
And then the months that followed were perfect, the friendship developing between you two was something that could've been pulled from your fantasies of love. Eddie was goofy and charming and so unbelievably alluring, and eventually you hit a breaking point of deciding to make a move because the need for him was too much. So one Saturday two months ago you went to the store and got all the stuff together to make Eddie's favorite dinner. Then you went to the mall to get something pretty to wear at dinner tonight.
Unfortunately for you, the night that you had the courage and drive to put together a dream come true for Eddie, was the same night he got horribly drunk after a campaign and decided to give into his temptations from the one night stand he picked up from the other end of the bar.
As you pressed the short skirt of the black lingerie gown down over your sides for the millionth time that night you looked over the dinner and smiled. Everything was set exactly how you wanted. Your nerves still jumped as you heard keys sliding into the door and a big smile overtook your face. The smile was wiped from you as you heard the giggle of a woman and the sloppy sounds of kissing come through the doorway of the kitchen from the hall.
Your heart felt tight as you heard the shuffling begin down the hallway towards the bedrooms. Staying pressed to the wall to avoid being seen you felt silent tears fall down your cheeks. You wiped them away hastily, knowing it was ridiculous to be so upset when you two weren't together, but you really had thought he was the one as cheesy as it sounds.
So you waited until Eddie's bedroom was filled with the noises you expected would've been coming from in there tonight, and you silently cleaned up dinner and retreated to your room as if none of it had ever happened. Eddie was none the wiser as he questioned you the next day asking if he missed out on a good dinner when he looked at the leftovers in the fridge.
