Part 29: Goodbye, for now

Goodbye. The one word that will break hearts in seconds is the only word I can hear as I stand in the hall.

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

I repeat to Hermione, Ron and Ginny then I pull them into a massive hug. Tears blurred my vision as they walked to the carriages.

"Hey you." Cedric said pulling me out of my thoughts. I smiled up at him and wrapped my arms around his neck, I pulled him into a hug.

"Hey Ceddy Teddy." I laughed as he pulled away with a playful pout on his face "don't you pout at me little man."

I yawned quietly and rubbed my eyes furiously. "You had another dream didn't you?" Cedric said curiously while pushing a stray hair behind my ear.

"Yeah but it wasn't that bad." I lied, in all honesty I felt like I was going to die. Voldemort showed me all the people he could kill if I didn't comply with his demands. He knows of my powers and wants to use them for his own good. But I won't let him.

"Lottie please don't lie to me... I want to help you." He said "That's why I want to give you something, something special." He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the growing crowd. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a chain, when I looked closer I saw a ring on it.

"Cedric!" I gasped as the beautiful silver circle hit my palm.

"It was my great great grand mothers who died in You-Know-Who's hand. Think of it as a promise ring, a promise that I will always protect, help, love you. Also think of it as protection against You-Know-Who." He said leaning in to me, his lips met mine and I kissed back instantly.

I pulled away and smiled up at him. "Thank you Cedric, I-I love you too."

"Charlotte." Someone called from behind me.

"I'll see you later Ced."

I ran up to the voice which happened to be Dumbledore. I looked at him and fiddled to my hands, I nodded at him then looked down at the floor.

"You will be staying with Harry for a few weeks then you will either be going to Cedric's, Viktor's or Ronald's." He explained and I nodded.

"Yes Uncle."

"And Charlotte."

"Don't tell anyone what you are." He said in a hushed voice. I nodded once again, I understand that so can't tell anyone what I am because people will want to use my powers for their own personal gain.

"Now go get on a carriage before you miss one and have to stay here." He chuckled before turn to leave. I couldn't help but notice that he seemed quieter then usually and...disturbed.

"Charlotte!" Cedric called form the giant doorway. I ran over to him and linked our arms together.

"See you soon Potter's" ha grid said hugging me and Harry, well squishing us.

"Bye Hagrid." I said before jumping on the train, I found a compartment with Harry, Hermione and Ron. I wish I could sit with Cedric but unfortunately I can't, but we promised to send letters. I got a new owl form Dumbledore called Oreo, which is a muggle biscuit that is really nice.
