The quiet of the evening was almost deafening. Probably because this job is making the sounds of doppelgangers yelling, and growling seem normal to you.

But the silence was nice, especially after all the stress of thinking you accidentally let a dopple in when you didn't. But the silence of course didn't last, so at the moment, You decided to check out some of the files of everyone.

Besides, extra memory never hurts anyone. Even if you did suck at noticing the very, very faint differences of neighbors. But, soon enough footsteps are heard.

Click, Click, Click, Click the person's shoes tap against the linoleum floors, and the sound of breathing is heard as they walk. With some yawning. Soon the person walks up, It's Francis himself. "Mmm, Hello" he spoke, thinking something a bit different about his voice.

It was more soothing than normal, but still tired underneath it. He breathed slowly as he dug out his ID, and entry request. Gently place them through the slot onto your desk. Nothing was off about his appearance, and he sounded a bit odd but it could just be me.

With the help of his file, his ID and Entry request were perfect. But before I let him in I took another glance at him. He watched me through the window. His eyes were gentle, and tired as he breathed Slowly. "What's up with your voice Francis?" You ask.

"Mmm, my voice?" He repeats your question. He goes quiet for a second, not like he was coming up with a lie. More like trying to explain his voice, "I, always sound like this. I'm just not as tired today as usual" he answered, he did sound a bit tired. But not as much as usual.

"May I enter?" He asked, looking at me softly. I double, maybe perhaps triple-check his stuff. Then with a nod, I let him in, forgetting about calling his apartment or checking the entry request.

He smiles softer, grabbing his stuff while walking in. His footsteps tapped against the linoleum flooring. Then it's replaced with a loud clicking noise, indicating the door is now closed.

Then it was quiet again, with the only ish sound being my breathing and the ticking of the clock.

A couple of minutes passed, and the next couple of people came through for inspection. They were all legit, and nothing crossed my mind that earlier I probably let in a doppelganger.

After the last person walks in, I hear the door behind me open. It was the one I had to go into to enter my office. The footsteps of the person or thing were walking closer.

Before I could turn to see the person, two hands grabbed my head. It wasn't a hard grip but it wasn't comfortable. By the feel, and touch of them. They felt soft and looked like regular human hands.

But I felt as if this was wrong, this wasn't to clarify safety. Soon the hands that were on me, started changing into huge, black claws that gripped onto my face. The person walked closer as their hands morphed into unhumanly black,  clawed hands.

I didn't have to look to know the person was smiling with an unhumanly amount of sharp teeth. "Thank you for letting me in dear," the person said, instantly I knew who it was. It was the person I thought was the milkman.

"Shit!" I mumble as it grabs my head, it chuckles in my attempts to get out. "Don't be scared, I only wish to show my gratitude" it chuckles, and instead of squishing my head more.

It Hugs me.
