It was a cold night, wind blowing through my parted hair as I walked home.

My shoes tap against the sidewalk as I hum to Myself, it was a peaceful night at the most point. Nothing was wrong, but of course, it never stayed peaceful. Especially with Doppelgangers roaming around pretending to be loved ones, or even yourself.

It is sickening that, a dopple has tried to sneak in disguised as my Fiance. But besides that Dopples were disturbing to the core, I kept on walking to the building in which my home. But, I stop in my movements when I notice a missing poster on a street light post.

When I move closer I notice who's missing, "Francis?" I mutter, adjusting my square glasses on reading the rest of the poster, 'Missing since 5A.M, last seen at -----' how odd, the place he was last seen was scratched off. I assume by his routine every morning he was delivering when he disappeared, but the question did stand. Where did he go?

Gently I tear the poster off from the post and walk along the sidewalk with the paper in my hand. The wind blows, trying to pry it from my hands as I walk.

I turn a corner, passing a pretty old alleyway. But as I walk I notice something strange, a trail of a faint red substance. My suspicion of where Francis went or where he was was growing, and slowly I followed the trail. Being cautious as ever. Dopples were known for roaming the cold streets of the night, and the alleys were no exception.

As I walk the only noise I hear is my breathing, mixed in with my footsteps.

The blood leads to a huge metal door, underneath the frame is a huge pile of blood. "I wonder if this will help where the ol Francis is?" I mutter as I walk in. The door made the same weird clicking noise as it did in the apartments I lived in. The room was dimly lit from the twitching weak bulb in the lights.

Soon my food steps in something squishy, and when I look down I see what looks like a wet flesh-like thing it's like a hand, but not exactly one. It was strange but sure as hell, I wasn't picking it up.

Behind me, I hear weird footsteps, loud and almost metallic. Like metal.

I turned my head, there was nothing. Only darkness ahead, and behind me. I kept moving forward, till I hit another door, by the touch it was wet. Perhaps more blood-ish liquid on it. But before I can open it, something whacks me on the head causing me to fall unconscious from that.

When I awake I feel metal pinching around my body, my eyes only seeing through tiny eye-like holes, like the ones in a child mascot costume. I would know because, before a Physicist I worked as a child entertainer for a birthday party program. It didn't work out, since I realized I didn't like screaming, let alone yelling at kids.

But in the moment it seemed as though I was stuck in a sort of mascot costume, with metal pinching my skin. I was stuck in a weird sitting position as the metal holding my legs, and arms were too much to handle in weight.

From the faint thing I could see through the eyeholes was, what seemed like a yellow snout, and black nose. Around me, was a yet again dimly lit room.

Suddenly, there's the faintest noise ever. Metal footsteps. Soon a figure walks out of the dark, a tall yellowish gold coloring on what looked like a rabbit suit. Blood dripping from the suits 'White' teeth, and eyes. "Another friend for the party!" the person said, in a raspy voice. With the grossest laughing I've ever heard.

Soon they walked closer to me, a bleeding knife held in their hand tightly. As it became closer I could see under its mask, it..looked like me, a bloodied insane version of me.

"A doppelganger" I mutter, it hears me and laughs. "We have a winner!" It yells insanely, "And for that, you get to join the others" Others? I thought. What did this Dopple do to the others? Deep in my thoughts, it grabs me by the suit's chest.

Throwing me into a room, the metal in the suit gets whacked from the impact. Soon, something in the metal snaps around my skin, getting deeper and deeper. Blood pools out of the suit, which activates more of the metal to snap.

SNAP

My mouth fills with my blood, as it pools out onto the cold floor. Staining the yellow suit I was in. The Dopple threw another person, who fell with a family squish sound. Blood was pooling from their suit as well.

My eyes were growing too heavy to keep up, I was dying. That was for sure, I felt my body filling up with my blood. But before I close my dying eyes, I see who's in the other mascot suit.

Francis, pooling blood from his mouth. Metal snaps all over his skin as he awaits the same fate as I.
