Chapter 3

Hair? Check. Makeup? Check. Props? Check. Navia? Not here. Furina was freaking out on the phone, frantically whisper-shouting at her.

"What do you mean you're sick?! Navia, we're one hour before showtime, and you just now thought of calling in sick? Who am I going to put in for the Maiden in Pearls? We can't cancel the show, the audience booked the Opera Epiclese just for this! I pestered Neuvillette so I could get a time slot for us! Do you know how busy this place is?!" She shrieks.

Yeesh, Understood. Never get on her bad side. Wriothesley thought to himself. "Oh.. alright. Makes sense. You know what? I might have to increase your pay for this set, Navia." A devious smirk spreads on her lips as she hangs up. Furina turns and sprints out of the room, yelling for someone.

"What's her problem?" Chevreuse asks, handing him a cup of tea.

"You really think I know what goes on in her head? Think again, Chev."

"I suppose so, fair enough." She chuckles.

In an elegant dress, Chiori walks up to them, her usual monotone and bored expression on her face. She sighs.

Wriothesley glances at the attire they were just discussing. It was an open back summer blouse with a set of tights and shorts to go with it. Pearls were embroidered into the frills and stitches as ornaments, and sea shells were sewed onto the white tights. The dress was so pretty, practically eye candy for anyone with taste. He could distinguish the second pair, they were Lady Furina's, but who was the first? He swore he could've heard them somewhere before. A sudden hushed silence fell over the entire stage crew, nobody daring to even breathe as the sound of heels cracking against hardwood floors echoed through the room. Wriothesley craned his neck, and he was met with none other than the piercing gaze of the Iudex, Chief Justice of Fontaine, Monsieur Neuvillette.
