Chapter 14

Wriothesley's face was mere inches away from Neuvillette's. He could smell the other's intoxicating perfume, and feel his soft breath on his face. He could technically kiss him, and nobody would be there to stop him. It's not like any of the audience knew the script, and the other man was just improvising...

No, I can't do that. If he ever finds out, I'll never have a chance. Better to play it safe.

His mind was like a battleground, the angel sitting on one shoulder, and the devil on the other, screaming at him to do something.

"My love, you must promise to never glance at me without my permission or knowledge. If you break my trust, I fear the consequences will be worse than death."

The Iudex speaks. The entire time, The Duke's eyes were locked onto his pretty lips, how they carefully enunciated each vowel to be heard, how they curved upwards to show happiness, how they curved upside down to match his condescending tone. Gosh, it's a surprise Celestia hasn't personally come down and taken him away. He's too ethereal to be true!

"I understand, ma ange. I vow on my loyalty as a sailor to never bypass your words."

The Duke brushes a thumb across his lips.

What are you doing!? This isn't part of the play!

Wriothesley's mind yelled. Yet, he couldn't help it. He wanted to lean in just a bit further, to ghost that soft tissue against his own chapped ones.

"If that is so, then I am yours, mon mari."

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod-

And with that, Neuvillette leaned in, his eyes meeting the other's, and he smiles, giving him a quick yet tender Eskimo kiss. Wriothesley was a tad bit disappointed that it wasn't an actual one, but it was better than nothing. But this led to another rising question: Did the Iudex reciprocate those feelings, or was he simply doing it for the scene?

"Themis and Dyeus were happily wed, and they lived together for a happy, yet too short three years. Until one day, Dyeus returned from a voyage, and in his eagerness to be embraced in his loved one's arms, he forgot about the pledge he had sworn to his wife. He flung open the door to their shared room, and gasped in bewilderment. On the bed, instead of a lovely young lass, instead sat an Oceanid, who looked just as shocked as the latter. Her eyes filled with sorrow and humiliation, and Themis leaped out of the room's opened window, gliding smoothly across the plains and hills. Dyeus, after breaking free from his trance, chased after her, calling for her desperately in hope for her to even halt for a fraction of a second."

"Themis, my love! Please, wait!"

Wriothesley ran, reaching out one of his hands as if trying to grasp something.

"Ma ange!"

The Duke's voice rang through the silent auditorium, eliciting soft sobs from the crowd.

Scene 48, Final Goodbye.

-------------------------------------------------

Okay, couple of things.

First of all, thank you guys SO MUCH for all the votes! Not to mention the reads! 1.1k!? Audibly squealing, giggling, kicking my feet right now.

Second, I wanted to take a poll. I know some people might not be okay with it, but I plan on making this fic around 100+ chapters. I'd like to know if y'all would like any smut. If not, then ofc I won't write any, just asking.

And finally, I've established a proper schedule. I'll try to update on Mondays, Thursdays, and either Saturday or Sunday. I also plan on writing multiple Wriolette stories, so if I ever don't update on schedule, it's probably because I'm either busy, or drafting the other chapters for the other stories.

That's all, and have a lovely day/night, wherever you are.

Au revoir!
