Y/N's POV:

We travelled further North in search of more members to join our party.

"There, that's the last of them", I sighed, wiping the sweat from my brow. The group of goblins scattered around us glowed a bright blue before disappearing, leaving behind thick grey horns.

"Here Fumi, feed these to your shield", I picked up a nearby horn and handed it off to the boy.

After collecting the remaining horns and feeding them to the shield, I leant over Fumi's shoulder, "So, did you level up?"

"Yeah, it looks like it". "It's still only on level 6 though".

I frowned, "Hmm, it's weird. We've been in this world for just over 6 months and it's only on level 6". "I thought it'd level up faster or something".

The black haired boy shrugged, standing up. "I know right, but there's no use crying about it". "Come on, let's get back on the road".

I nodded, skipping after him.

"Hey Fumi, before night falls can we pretty please do some more training?" I leant into him, pouting my lips.

He chuckled, "No use acting cute Y/N. That shit doesn't work on me". he patted my head, "But yeah, we can get some training in if you'd like".

I threw my arms around his neck, "Yay, thank you, you're the best".

Laughing, he removed me from around his neck and crossed his arms, "Just so you know Y/N, I'm not gonna go easy on you". "No matter how many times you try to use your feminine charms on me, I won't fall for it!" He stamped his foot firmly on the ground, earning a laugh from me.

"God you're so childish", I exclaimed, skipping further ahead. "Now move your sorry butt, we've got some training to do!"

Naofumi's POV:

"Hyah!" She screamed, bringing down her sword. The impact of the blow sent shocks through my arm causing a hiss to escape my lips.

"Shit, did I hurt you?" Y/N asked, concern in her voice.

"Nah, I'm all good. You've just gotten a lot stronger". "I wasn't expecting that". I laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of my head.

Suddenly, the two of us stopped, straining our ears.

"You hear that?" Y/N whispered, approaching me slowly.

"Y- yeah", I muttered back. "L- let's check it out".

Hurriedly rushing towards the edge of the forest, Y/N reluctantly followed behind.

"D- don't get too far ahead Fumi. I don't want to be left behind".

I slowed, coming to a halt.

"Oof", she yelped, bumping into my back. "Why'd you stop?" The girl peered from around me, rubbing her forehead.

We stood at the edge of a small embankment overlooking a village. It was mayhem. The village was engulfed in flames. Men screamed, swords raised and slashing down on the mass of innocent civilians that desperately tried to make a run for it.

"Oh my god Fumi", Y/N winced beside me. "W- we have to do something". She tugged at the hem of my shirt.

Groaning internally, I nodded. I didn't want to get involved. It would only be a hassle and I didn't know if i'd be able to protect not only the civilians but also Y/N.
