Riley let out a laugh as she watched Max try to shoot the basketball at the hoop, the thing clanked off the backboard hard and bounced away into the yard. Max threw her head back and let out a groan in annoyance before collapsing on the ground beside her. Riley shook her head looking at the redhead beside her. "You'll get it, it just takes practice." She told her, nudging her with her shoulder. Max just groaned and dropped her head to Riley's shoulder.
"I've been trying to learn this stupid game all summer and I still suck," she told her with a groan. Riley just chuckled knowing the girl definitely wasn't a natural.
"Hey it's okay, you don't have to be good at everything you know." She told her resting her head against the other girls. "Besides, I suck at skateboarding. So we're even."
"You do suck at skateboarding," Max laughed, lifting her head up. Riley laughed too, thinking back to the chaos that was her trying to stay on the board. Needless to say she came away with lots of bruises and scrapes. But she did get lots of kisses as well so it was definitely worth the pain. The sun was finally setting and it was starting to cool off. The summer heat was a pain, she was always sweaty and gross and it made it hard to cuddle Max.
"You want a popsicle?" Riley asked, standing up suddenly. Max raised an eyebrow at her knowing she just wanted to get the girl inside away from the eyes of the neighborhood. But the girl grabbed the hand that was stretched out to her and let herself be pulled to her feet. They were close now Max creeking her neck to look up at Riley. Riley smirked down at the smaller girl, she had hit a growth spurt over the summer making her a solid 5' 7" and was taller then Max by like 3 inches now. Riley liked to tease the shorter girl at every opportunity and was about to do just that but Max rolled her eyes and tugged the taller girl into the house.
"Let's go get those popsicles huh?" Max asked as she pulled her along into the cool house. Riley just let herself be pulled along, smiling at the girl's hand in hers. They got to the kitchen and Riley made her way to the freezer as Max plopped herself up on the countertop.
"What kind you want?" Riley asked over her shoulder as she dug through the freezer.
"Mmmm, blue please," Max responded as she watched from her spot on the counter. Riley pulled out a blue one and grabbed a green one for herself before turning and handing the blue one to the redhead. Riley slurped hers down crunching on the cold snack as Max watched eyebrow raised. She was done in a matter of minutes and threw the plastic wrap in the trash.
"What?" Riley asked through the mouthful of green popsicle she had. Max just shook her head with a laugh as she kept eating her popsicle. Riley swallowed the last bit of her popsicle before she slid up next to the redhead. "You need help with that?" She asked, pointing at the popsicle in the girl's hand, but she was looking straight at the red head with a small smirk on her face.
"No, I think I might just be done with it," was her response as she set the treat in the sink beside her. She then grabbed the collar of Riley's shirt and pulled her in close. Riley readjusted so she was standing directly in front of the girl with a smile plastered on her face before she moved forward pushing their lips together. Max was a little bit taller now that she was on the counter and Riley slid between her legs as she was pulled closer by the redhead. They separated and rested their foreheads together. "You taste like popsicle." Max told the girl with a smirk and Riley chuckled before pulling the girl in for another kiss.
"You do too," she told her when they pulled back again. She was about to go in for another kiss when Max stopped her with a hand on the chest. Riley raised an eyebrow at that looking between the hand on her chest and the girl.
"We have to go and meet the party for the movie," Max told her, she let out a groan and rolled her eyes. "Sorry bub, we can continue this later." Max gave her chest a pat before hopping off the counter. Riley whined as they headed out to her bike. Riley hopped on and felt Max get on behind her. The girl still had yet to get a bike instead electing to ride around on the back of Riley's every time they needed to go anywhere. And Riley wasn't complaining, the shorter girl's arms wrapped around her every time they went anywhere was just what she wanted, and they could get away with it in public and nobody would say a word.
