Don't stay awake for too long,
Don't go to bed,
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head,
I'll get you up and going out of bed,
And I promise that one day I'll feel fine.

Just your usual slow, chill Sunday morning. Felix got out of bed at 6 am, as he always did. He always struggled to sleep, therefore he felt exhausted and then stressed to the brim every second of every day. He hated existing, he hated life and everything that came with it. The only thing that kept him hanging on was his roommate. Some would say they were complete opposites. They fit like that. They balanced eachother out. Felix, didn't sleep and experienced the world so much that he just wanted to turn it off. Hyunjin, slept deeply all night and didn't wake up unless Felix woke him up. He didn't experience the world enough, he felt starved of emotion and life. Opposites, both struggling but hanging on together. In there peaceful home that they had lived in for 14 years, since they were 18. Now they were 32, lonely together and living in a field away from everything. They liked it that way, they gave eachother the little things needed to keep going. The little positives and hopes and smiles.

One of those positives was coffee. Felix didn't drink it but Hyunjin couldn't survive without it. So, every morning Felix enjoyed making a cup of coffee the exact way Hyunjin liked it. With the right amount of sugar. Hyunjin always loved being gently woken up and given his coffee, how he liked it. That Sunday was no different. Felix woke up early, made the coffee and headed up the stairs to wake up Hyunjin at 10am. That Sunday was so different, it felt different.

"Mornin' Hyune." Felix voiced, placing the full mug on Hyunjin's oak bedside table and nudging the man slightly. The sunlight peaked through the beige curtains, drifting across the room and illuminating Hyunjin's features as he stretched slowly. As he brought himself to life.

Many people would be irritated by the sun in their eyes, or the sudden light first thing after waking up. Not Hyunjin though. He appreciated it, so much. Like it was a sign that maybe, after thirty-two years, things were about to change for the better. Felix felt that way when he woke up that morning to a quiet world, just the slight whistle of the birds singing their tunes to him and whoever happened to hear. His thoughts were there but it was almost like someone had found the volume button and turned them all the way down from 10 to 2. Hyunjin felt that way as he got out of bed a little quicker, as the sunlight shimmered over himself and over Felix's freckles and as the coffee tasted a little bit sweeter.

"Mornin' Lix." Hyunjin gave the man a small smile, finally replying when he wandered into the lounge (where Felix was eating cereal and watching BTS interviews on their TV) after he had gotten dressed into some simple clothes for the day.

"How was your coffee?" Felix asked, propping up his legs on the couch and sitting cross-legged. He placed the empty cereal bowl down on the glass coffee table in front of him that sat in the centre of the room.

"Perfect. More than perfect, actually. It was extra sweet this morning, I loved that." Hyunjin replied as he placed himself down on the couch beside Felix and mimicking the man's position. He had the temptation to say 'just like you' but resisted. "How're you feeling?"

"Honestly?"

"Honestly."

"I feel, at peace. For the first time in as long as I can even remember." Felix's voice was soft, mirroring his inner emotions of calm. "How about you?"

"I feel alive, Felix. I've never felt this way either. It feels fucking amazing. You know?" Hyunjin beamed, showing a side of happiness he had never shown before. He had never felt before.

"I know. It's a spark of feeling like it's okay. Of feeling like it's gonna be alright."

Hyunjin thought of something as the words left Felix's mouth. Something risky, scary and waaaayyy out of his comfort zone but still something that sounded perfect. Something that could turn that spark into a new chapter of their lives. He knew Felix would feel the same. Something about how he made that coffee everyday, told him that.

"Felix."

"Hyunjin?" Felix replied, slightly confused as he paused the TV at the hint of a conversation beginning.

"My whole life, has felt so drained of feeling and love. Then I met you, we became roommates 14 years ago and I fell in love with that coffee you made me every morning. I fell in love with how, although it was often hard to exist, we balanced eachother out and made it that little bit easier. Today, this spark, feels different. A good different. I don't want to lose it. I also, fell in love with you. Felix."

"Where are you going with this?" Felix ignored Hyunjin's last sentence and avoided eye contact with his roommate, what was Hyunjin going on about?

"I want to marry you." Hyunjin dropped the bombshell. "I want to get woken up with a kiss and a coffee from my husband. From you. You mean the world to me and this spark could become a new, brighter chapter of our lives. I can feel it."

"Can I say yes now?" Felix muttered, stopping Hyunjin from speaking further. Not that the man heard him.

"Hmm?" Hyunjin hummed, signalling for Felix to repeat. His eyes traced the side-profile of the beautiful male.

Felix lifted his head to look at Hyunjin with a smile, "Can I say yes now?" He repeated, louder and clearer.

"Wait, you actually want to marry me?"

"Yes! You fucking idiot!" Felix punched Hyunjin's arm lightly, the two of them bursting out in laughter.

When the laughter calmed and they found themselves lost in eachother's eyes again, tears filling Hyunjin's.

"Hey, why are you crying?" Felix asked, gently wiping the tears away.

"I just, love you and this moment and this feeling." Hyunjin mumbled, smiling when he feels Felix's lips against his for the first time.

It was a short, sweet and soft kiss but it was perfect.

Hyunjin woke up the next day with the feeling of something on his forehead. Felix's gentle lips, to be specific.

"Morning, love." Felix whispered, wrapping his arms around Hyunjin.

"Mornin'." Hyunjin spoke back, voice just as sweet. He felt the warm sunlight against his skin again, looking over at the window that poured light through it as he hugged his future husband back.

From that day, life felt okay. Not too chaotic, nor too slow, just right. Perfect. Especially the day they got married (in their living room, using a website online that was probably fake, but oh well). Felix's coffees just got sweeter and nicer, as well as his kisses.

And I'll make a cup of coffee,
With the right amount of sugar,
How you like it,
How you like it.
