Chapter 8: Vichy Dominion

Vichy, Vichy Dominion ----- 3 months after Chapter 7

It's been 3 months since the Crimson Axis Convention and now everyone is returning to their nations to continue the war against Azur Lane and the Sirens, but right now Hunley has been invited by Z23 to come with her to have a tour around the capital of Vichy Dominion which is Vichy. Vichy has a mixture of Iron Blood and their France tradition. Their leader Jean Bart is reading the report of scouts to report of what happen to an Eagle Union kansen named USS Tuscaloosa who went missing, but that's for our future story. Hunley and Z23 arrive at Jean's office and salute to her.

Z23: "Greetings Lady Bart; we're here as your request."

Bart: "Very well than.. You must be Z23 or Nimi that your friends in Germany called you and you must be the daughter of Grosses."

Hunley nod.

Bart put the report about USS Tuscaloosa inside her cabinet before staring at the two girls.

Bart: "As you know that we're conducting exercise around the coast along with our Italian allies for anti-submarine operation. I want you Z23 to provide assistance to this operation."

Z23: "Understood Lady Bart."

Bart: "As for you Hunley; since your submarine is still under operation with Isaac; you'll be working with the rest of the Vichy ships and hope you enjoy your stay here."

Hunley nod before leaving until she notice something wrong with her face which she's not going to question it and heading out and enjoy her time at Vichy. After Hunley left the office; Jean Bart return to her desk and bring the report back up to the desk which is the report of any whereabouts of any strange cruiser moving, but so far it's nothing but Azur Lane fleet and Crimson Axis fleet movements.

Jean Bart: "Where are you Tuscaloosa?"

Time Skip
Market, Vichy Dominion

We can see Hunley walking through the market area of Vichy and notice a lot of French food, but the structure has Iron Blood tech added to the building since Vichy has secret HQ for Iron Blood. She continue to explore the market until she can see a bakery shop owned by a kansen that contains sweets. The shop belongs to Dunkerque. Hunley open the door to reveal Dunkerque talking to the younger version of Jean Bart except for her eyes as if she's a child of Jean Bart.

Dunkerque: "Here you go. Don't get spoil."

???: "Thank you."

Hunley become interest of the sweets which she was notice by Dunkerque who doesn't know her, but she doesn't rude the customers.

Dunkerque: "Welcome to Vichya Sweets. If you're looking for a certain sweet than let me know."

Hunley looking around to find sweets while she continue to watch over a little version of Jean Bart who has a sad worry look on her face so Hunley decide to talk to her.

Hunley: "Wrong?"

???: "Sorry about that, but I worry about my father's disappearance."

Hunley is confuse until Dunkerque fill the gap.

Dunkerque: "She's missing her dad which her mother is getting a scout team to find him."

The Jean's child is the daughter of USS Tuscaloosa who report MIA and Jean Bart is the mother of that child; how is it possible. It was during his stay as VIP for Vichya Dominion during Eagle Union's Neutral and his main purpose was to deliver the ambassador to the Dominion. That's the time where Jean Bart and Tuscaloosa first met. He spend many months in Dominion before heading back to the Eagle Union mainland. Jean Bart was pregnant with his child during his stay and when the Eagle Union declare war against the Crimson Axis; Tuscaloosa refuse to joined the fight because he's put his child first before mission; however he went MIA after that. The child's name is Alice Bart, but that's for another time.

Hunley and Alice spent time together eating sweets which Dunkerque give them something to drink to thirst their throats until Z23 arrive at the bakery shop with sweats coming from her body.

Z23(tire): "That was tiring. Give me some water Dunkerque."

Dunkerque: "Coming up."

Z23 sit with the girls who continue enjoying their sweets while waiting for her water.

Hunley offer sweets for her which she accept it since she didn't have something to eat after training with the destroyers and submarines. Z23 talk with Dunkerque about the situation with their counterpart of Iris which Dunkerque inform her that Jean Bart already commencing talks with Iris and hopefully reunited the country.

Dunkerque: "Jean Bart is going to have a meeting with her sister tomorrow about sharing a port near the open to the Great Sea (Mediterranean Sea)."

Z23: "Would this effect our relationship?"

Dunkerque: "Negative; we make sure that we report everything to Iron Blood, but the protection of the open is more important since we need it for our supplies."

Make sense since Vichya Dominion require to have that open free from Sirens otherwise they lose supplies and must rely on Iron Blood or Azur Lane for supplies through Iris Libre. Another thing is that Jean Bart want any information from Iris for the whereabouts of USS Tuscaloosa if possible. Hunley and Z23 finish eating their sweets and drinks.

Z23: "Time to head out. We got to head home and head to Kiel Shipyard to meet with the new U-Boat pens for the Baltic Theater."

The Baltic Theater is the conflict between Iron Blood, Sirens, and Northern Parliament. The Kiel Shipyard was destroyed during the Second Great War until Bismarck approve of rebuilding the shipyard to fight against the Northern Parliament and the Sirens in the Baltics. Hunley bid everyone farewell at the bakery and made a new friend with Alice.

Time Skip
Train Station, Vichya Dominion

Z23 and Hunley hop onto the train and heading back home to continue their tour.
