It didn't take long for us to run into each other again.

I was out on a flower delivery, briskly walking through the centre of Velaris with the beautiful bouquet of tulips in my arms, dropping them to the blacksmith. Whilst I was there a sword caught my eye. It was smaller than your traditional sword and slightly curved, but it was gorgeous.

"How much would it be, for that sword?" he rose and eyebrow, turning to see which one I was pointed at.

"You know how to use it" I nodded confidently. I had trained well at Dawn, but I hadn't had a reason to buy one until Cas.

"Why don't we call it payment for the flowers?" he offered, and I was a little shocked.

"are you sure? I feel like that's an unfair trade"

"Nonsense, I've been trying to sell it for a while but the men think it's a little too...decorative"

"Maybe women just have better taste" I smiled and he laughed, agreeing.

"here" he handed me the sword, belt attacked, and I strapped it around my waist, feeling the weight of the blade as I balanced it in my hands.

"it's perfect"

"I'm glad, I hope it serves you well"

I left the shop with a sword on my hip, a contrast to my light green dress. The weather was great today, so no need for a shawl. And even I had to admit, I looked hot. My boobs looked great in this dress as well. My hair was up, a few loose curls falling with my fringe, and I had to wear my glasses today seeing as my eyes were tired. I couldn't sleep, again. It seems Azriel had taken a constant place in my mind.

A low whistled sounded and as my head snapped in that direction, anger spiking in me, I noticed it wasn't one of the greasy males I was familiar with. Rather that of the mischievous Cassian.

"Damn girl, you look like fire" he teased, strutting over dressed in his leathers, slightly sweaty.

"Looks like you've been having a busy day" his wings flared behind him proudly, an easy grin spreading over his face.

"Seems like you've been distracting my brother. I pinned him earlier"

"and what would that have to do with me?"

"well the topic of conversation was you at the time, and he said-" Cassian was hit in the chest by a mass of black, throwing him to the floor with a groan and I watched the shadows disburse, wrapping around my legs in greeting.

"You need to learn to keep your mouth shut, brother" Azriel appeared next to me, and I was attacked with his natural scent, feeling something in myself stir.

He turned to me, and his eyes burned against my body as they traced my skin, seeing them flick to my cleavage before he turned away sharply as I chuckled.

"it's nice to see you too" I muttered with a smirk and his wings shuddered, both of us watch Cassian get to his feet.

"think I could borrow your sword to teach him a lesson?" He joked, moving his hair out his face and I chuckled, Azriel looking down at my waist, wet hair hanging in his eyes, skin shining like a god.

"that's new" he commented, fingers touching the hilt.

"and here I was convinced that you noticed everything about our dear Alex" Cassian smirked at the glare he was sent.

"the blacksmith gifted it to me, in exchange for the flower delivery" I soothed the rising tension, "she's pretty right?" I pulled out my new toy, resting it between my hands.

"she?" both boys echoed and I rolled my eyes.

"yes she. Don't tell me you don't gender your knives and shit"

"don't tell truth teller that, she'll get jealous"

"truth teller?" Azriel pulled out a knife at my question, seemingly from thin air.

"how about we do a swap?" he held the handle out to me and I gave him my sword before taking truth teller.

It was light weight, perfectly balanced and as I flipped it through my hand, I could see why it was called truth teller. Sharp and unyielding.

"you know how to use a blade, huh Green?" Cassian looked over from where they were inspecting my sword and I shrugged.

"yeah, well enough."

"who did you train under?"

"I used to copy the soldiers who trained together in the ring." I dropped the glamour on my hands, revealing the multiple times I had nicked myself trying those same moves "plenty of marks to prove for it"

Azriel caught my hand, his scarred thumb tracing over the raised skin softly.

"They didn't let you train in Dawn?"

"I wasn't old enough" a smile teased at my lips, tracing the patterns of his scars with my eyes.

"Well, your new sword is very nice" Cassian assured, passing me my blade and I sheathed it, passing back truthteller, shivering as shadows weaved through my hair. Cassian shot a look to Azriel, noting his shadows misbehaviour only to see the Shadowsinger with his eyebrows drawn in focus.

They began massaging my skull and I had to fight back the groan.

"Cauldron that feels like heaven. Can I take them home with me, would really help me sleep" I joked and Azriel tilted his head.

"you haven't been sleeping?"

"that's life with a child," I smiled, coaxing the shadows out of my hair, feeling them curl around my hands as I bought them back down from my head "much alike these guys I'd imagine. Trouble" they wiggled frantically under my gaze, reaching for my face and I tsked, shaking my head. "go on, back to him" they seemed reluctant but did eventually peel away from me back to their master, fluttering around a confused Azriel, Cas next to him with a similar look.

"what?" I asked and they both shook their heads.

"nothing" Azriel studied me, and I grew concerned, but his lips turned up, taking my hand and kissing it in a similar manner to how he had a few nights ago. "we have to go, but I'll see you soon"

"of course" I smiled back, Cassian winking before they both disappeared, leaving me thoroughly confused.

The interaction stuck with me all through the next few days. I wasn't sure what about it tickled me so but it just....did.
