"Love! Have you got the bag?" my voice called through the house as I pulled Cas's top over his head, the little boy trying to run out of my arms as I scolded him lightly "easy Kid, you can't go running around naked"

"a warrior doesn't need clothes" he put his hands on his hips defiantly and I rose an eyebrow at the little terror.

"oh? And who told you that?"

"Uncle Cass"

"of course he did" I muttered to myself, letting him go and watching him run out as I placed his pj's on the end of his bed.

Amusement seeped through me, but not my own, so my feet lead me after Cas, where I would inevitably find Azriel.

"are you kidding me?"

Cas had taken his clothes off and was now running around Azriel's feet, chasing his shadows as the Shadowsinger tried to bite back his smile, hazel eyes meeting mine sheepishly.

"come on little warrior" he scooped the boy into his arm along with the clothes strewed across the floor "warriors don't get burnt"

A few of his shadows lingered on me, kissing my skin and I smiled to myself, running my hands over them fondly before adding the bottle of sunscreen to the bag. We were having a beach day, seeing as all the courts were open to visit now, I figured why not visit summer and catch some sun?

Rhys had arranged everything with Tarquin, and as long as no one destroyed any buildings, we were welcome.

I made sure we had everything we needed before Azriel took Cas in his arms and I placed a hand on his shoulder before we disappeared.

The sun was so warm as we stepped into summer.

Az was reluctant to be visiting without his leathers but had eventually settled on light black trousers and top, truthteller secured on his waist.

I, however, had gone all out. Wearing white linen shorts with a matching oversized top which I left unbuttoned to reveal my emerald, green bikini top, matching bottoms hidden beneath. Az hadn't been keen to leave once he saw me step out of the bathroom but with the promise of bathing in the sun all afternoon, he couldn't deny me.

I lifted my sunglasses as the High Lord approached us, both of us dipping our heads to him and his Court.

"Lord Tarquin, thank you for letting us enjoy your court" Azriel thanked, and Tarquin smiled, bowing his head back at us.

"Please, Tarquin is fine. and you and your family are more than welcome. Please enjoy the beach and if there's anything we can do for you, let one of us know"

"thank you" I smiled excitedly, glancing towards the waves that crashed nearby.

Az took my hand in his before we were left to the beach, setting up the beach towels before guiding Cas over to the sea, one of our hands holding each of his as he paddled through the waves squealing.

"swing me swing me!" he screamed and I chuckled at his enthusiasm, my mate and I working in tandem to swing the boy over the waves. Luckily I had put his sunscreen on earlier because there was no way I was going to be able to pull him away from the water.

Soon enough Cas settled by the towels, playing with the sand and creating castles and moats. All whilst I laughed at how much sunscreen Az had put on himself. Practically painting himself white as he tried to rub it in.

"you could help me rather than laughing" my mate scolded with a smile and I patted the corners of my eyes.

"aww my poor baby" I cooed, shuffling over to him whilst pulling off my coverup "come here"
