"Al" fingers poked my face and I felt shadows curl over me, eyes peeling open in the dark room. Cas stood, his face inches from mine and my heart jumped, blinking rapidly as I pulled down Az's sweater, realising it had ridden up in the night to bunch up above my navel, his hand still tucked snugly against my boob.
"hey lovey" I whispered, stroking his cheek as I lifted my head "are you okay?"
"can I sleep with you and Azzie?" his eyes stared into mine and I smiled, pulling the blanket over Az's naked body before hoisting the little boy up, his back resting against my chest.
"did you have a nightmare?" I asked quietly and he shook his head "just wanted a cuddle?" he nodded and I smoothed his hair back, pressing a kiss to his head "okay baby"
He settled, snoring softly and I sighed, studying the room. It was too hot between the boys. A wave of coolness washed over me, and Az's hand squeezed softly, lips pressing behind my ear.
"he okay?" his deep voice whispered and I hummed softly, brushing my hand over his arm.
"just wanted company" he sighed, shadows pushing my curls above my head so his nose rested against my neck. He pressed a kiss to my skin before we both drifted back to sleep.
I woke up before the two of them, escaping quietly to pull on a pair of pants and make my way to the kitchen. Some of the shadows followed me, curling through my hair.
"good morning" Cassian greeted and I waved at him tiredly. "how you feeling?"
"good, still a little sore. But good" I studied him, leaning back against the kitchen counter as he mimicked me, eating his bowl of cereal.
"how's mated life treating you?"
"I knew it" I shook my head with a grin "they couldn't keep quiet"
"It's nothing I didn't expect" he assured, brown eyes peering at me "how does it feel?" Cassian was much quieter now, and I pursed my lips.
"Like fire, sitting in my chest. Every time he touches me it spreads through my skin like it's reaching for him. Waiting." He nodded at my words, chewing on his cereal. "did you have someone in mind?"
"no, no. it's just nice to see that both my brothers have someone made for them. I'm happy for all of you, truly" his words rang with sincerity and a little bit of longing. I walked across to him, hugging him and his hands hovered over my shoulders before they squeezed me thankfully.
"you'll find them." I promised "I just hope they're half as annoying" he chuckled, pushing my shoulder lightly as I grinned, beginning to prepare stuff for breakfast.
"you're cooking for him too? He's going to become spoiled." The Illyrian complained, "and fat"
I snorted, bacon sizzling in the pan.
"He's not going to get fat" I denied, moving on to whisk some eggs "did you want some?"
His face brightened hopefully, and I laughed, assuring him I'd make enough for everyone.
Half an hour later there was food laid out on the table, bacon, eggs, beans, sausages, toast. The basic bits and bobs. Oh, and juice.
"wait for the others" I chided Cassian as he tried to plate some food.
"you're not serious, they're probably busy fucking"
"mind your mouth, brother" Rhys warned "we have children staying here" his eyes flicked to me mischievously and I raised an eyebrow.
"easy High Lord, this child will still put you on your ass"
"you tell him Al" Feyre graced us with her presence, eyeing the table "you made this for us?"
"it's the least I could do" I tucked my hair behind my ears with a smile "I'll grab the boys then we can eat"
I hurried back to Az's room, the rest of his shadows meeting me at the door. Cas's eyes met mine and he pressed a finger to his lips, pointing to my sleeping mate. I waved him over and he hopped off the bed, running over to me as I crouched to his level.
"I think there might be some bacon waiting for you on the table" he ran off without another word, hearing the others greet him enthusiastically. I smiled, moving further into the room.
I studied my lovers sleeping face, wings spread across either side of the bed. I crouched next to him, fingers reaching up to push his hair back before I kissed his forehead gently, doing the same to his cheek, his jaw, feeling his lips curl up.
"good morning to you too" he murmured, eyes opening to look at me, wings stretching out with a shake. "do I smell bacon?"
I hummed in confirmation.
"with any luck they'll be some left" he smiled at my words, sitting up and I couldn't help but admire him. His golden skin, muscles, abs.
"Like what you see, Alexandrite?" he purred suggestively, and I exhaled softly, fire coursing beneath my skin.
"I always like what I see." I got to my feet, Az doing the same and our chests brushed as my heart raced. "Foods gonna get cold"
"we'd better hurry then" he cupped my face, kissing me in a way that made me swoon, hand pressing against my back to pull me closer as his teeth pulled my bottom lip. He pulled back and I blinked up at him, a little dazed. He smirked, tilting his head at me before brushing his lips against mine again.
"Good morning, Cas" Azriel's wings instantly covered his front, using me as a human shield against Cas's innocent eyes. My brother pattered into the room towards us and I sat him on my hip as he reached for me.
"Rhys said to tell you that they're hungry" he whispered, and a grin split across my face, laughing.
"did he now?" Az drawled, and Cas giggled as his shadows tickled his feet, curling into my arms. "why don't you tell Rhys that he's a massive loser"
"okay!" I set him back down and he ran back to the kitchen as I pressed a kiss to Az's wing.
"be speedy Shadowsinger" my eyes lingered on hisbefore I went to follow after Cas. Hearing Rhys' laugh as I entered the room."You may as well start; he still needs to get changed".
