You walk the cobblestone streets as men and women alike called out to you trying to sell anything that you could think of. The variety could range from the simplest things to down right inhumane though all illegal under the law of Whitlock. It is a small peaceful town but incredibly racist to monsters and magic alike causing to form these types of black markets. Saying this If you were to ever be figured out, you surely would be persecuted though at least it isn't immediate death. Just some time in the jail house, and then forever banned from living here ever again for they will always fear you then. Probably confiscate everything to your name while they're at it. It would be a shame, but as long as you have this uterus, you'll survive any predicament. You nearly laughed at that thought for it made you seem like a whore when that's not it by any circumstance.
Having gathered all the materials you needed, you passed by a series of cages one catching your eye. You sighed now seeing all the monsters gawking at you for your interest in them causing the begging to begin. You understand why knowing after sometime they will probably be killed because what use are they if they can't make this man a few coins. This child that seems to gather you attention doesn't seem to bother though as if he has already given up knowing his doom will be coming soon. You kneel down in your dress asking for his name which surprises and frightens him slightly from the suddenness.
" Amartya."
" That means immortal, am I correct? What happened to your family?"
Skeletons were rare to come by in general to your knowledge, and you were morbidly curious of the situation this monster is in. That and you wonder if someone will come knocking upon your door looking for him. You could see the depression behind those dark eye sockets of his, and you hate to admit it pulled at your heart strings.
" It does, and my parents are dead miss. Killed by hunters."
You knew of the truth what happened to monsters that disappeared from this town, and also how law enforcement puts no effort into finding them. It truly was a cruel world for their kind as you know they'll never be fully accepted for their differences. You pressed forward with the conversation though seeing the clerk now watching intently; he's probably about to give his best sales pitch making you annoyed even at the thought of this.
" Where you parents Reapers?"
You knew it was a slim chance for it's quite an unusual case to find such a species down Earth, but if not the case, you're sure you wouldn't be disappointed. Either way, skeletons are known for their magical capabilities, and it would only be practical to use this to your advantage.
" They were miss though no one seems to believe me. You see, my uncle is the Grim Reaper-."
" Stop spreading that fable boy!"
The one whose in charge of the exchange hits the cage with his cane earning a glare from you. You stand fully confronting him now, and he just gives you this crooked smile his eyes wondering over your body like a typical man.
" How much?"
" Eight hundred gold. I'll give you a deal if you take the lycan and naga child with him. Unlike him, they both can perform magic."
Your eyes skid over to admitting they were impressive wondering how he got his hands on such species, but you hesitantly shake your head not able to afford three extra mouths.
" Take them. I'll be fine."
The boy's endearment made you smile which even surprises you, and your mind goes back to the other two victims involved within this man's scheme. You walk closer to the lycan their fur as dark as night, but what caught your gaze was their different color eyes. You give a wave of a hand summoning forth their magic to find he has been marked with a prohibitor, but it's busting at the seams. Now why would someone put forth such an effort to do so? He puts out a hand to for you to back up being not a fan of physical contact.
You make your way to the naga his hair a fiery red reaching past his shoulders and his rather long, anaconda tail an olive green. He appeared to be the youngest out of all three guessing to be four or five. His smile is wide slithering around in excitement. Your gaze between all three before landing back on the old man.
" What's the deal?"
" Twelve hundred gold. Take it or leave it."
" What if we can do a tradeoff instead?"
The man scoffs no longer interested, but you still summon three satin bags, and his curiosity gets the better of him. Laying them down upon his stand counter, you take out an enlarge seed as he blinks in mild confusion to what he was seeing. Inside the little incubator, there appeared to be a child developing around two months old. He was greatly fascinated by it unable to utter a word for a moment. When he does, he has an inquiry ready for you.
" Where did you get it?"
" Does it matter? How many of these would settle my debt for the three boys?"
He thinks of it while you reveal the same with a piece of glass and rock. You watch him configure a price in his head for some time hoping it to be reasonable, and he was for the most part. Giving away two of each, you were quick to hide your valuables watching him cautiously store away the children. He then proceeds to unlock the cage to reveal your newest responsibilities. The naga immediately clings to your leg as if expecting a mother, and as if on instinct, you nearly kick him away. Instead though, you patiently push him away upsetting him, but he keeps his emotions to himself.
You now four head home hoping you won't regret it.
