You wake up to sound of storms in the distance causing you to internally groan. Rolling over in your bedding, you jump at the sight of luminescent eyes staring back at you. You hear whimpering from Roman hoping he hasn't scared you into irritation. You just sigh questioning why he was still up at this hour.
" It's... It's the storm."
You can't help but to pity the wolf boy. You were the same too as a child remembering the times you crawled into your father's bed as a child. Wanting to avoid that interaction, you decide to offer him a glass of milk which earned you a tail wag that you could hear within the darkness. As you leave though, he decides to trail after you like a lost puppy which you guess in reality, you guess he was. He grabs for you hand which you instantly put away not wanting that sort of attachment. From his eyes, you could tell he was tilting his head in shame. You don't expect him to entirely understand so young, but he'll get use to it eventually enough. You retrieved the rest of a glass bottle pouring into a hollowed out wooden bug. You take a sip in making sure it was still good before handing it over to Roman. He gulps it quickly thanking you properly once over with, and you were about to head back to your bed when there was a small chuckle erupting from just a few feet before you. You grabbed a hold of Roman forcing him behind you at the upcoming stranger. Thunder strikes as you press him to state his business.
" You don't recognize my voice? I'm hurt."
You relaxed seeing it to be only Raknok: one of your lovers. He stands from his seat trying to reassure the child he was a friend. Roman looks around you his eyes still penetrating the nothingness, and Raknok comes closer as if now understanding the situation.
" And I thought you had a heart. This has to do with your Astral witchcraft, isn't it? Don't you have enough to keep your business alive?"
" No! She is kind-!"
" Who told you I had children to begin with?"
He comes closer now even more intrigued by what you want all with this.
" There's more?
" Answer me first."
You could now hear his shallow breathing as you wonder he took such an interest in you business. Is he here to question whether you could take care of them or not? If that's the case, his opinion will be ignored of course.
" You should of known that news of a human adopting a monster child would spread throughout the town. I was here just wanting to see if it was the truth. Y/n, where did he come from? Do you honestly think you're mother material?"
" First, you can make a guess of his origin. Second, I'm not trying to be his mother... Just a caretaker that wants to share benefits with them."
You could tell he was disappointed in you, but you didn't really care. You ordered Roman to return to his blankets and to make sure not to wake the others. He was reluctant, but he doesn't dare to go against orders. You were now alone with Raknok, and he verbally motioned you to take a seat at the table. You complied, but not before retrieving a bottle of wine. You take a gulp as he begins speaking again.
" You didn't answer me. How many Y/n?"
" Three boys in total. You should really stay out of my business."
He takes the bottle away from you taking a sip of his own.
" I'm surprise you took on a lycan. I didn't believe you liked them."
You let out a small laugh shaking your head at Raknok.
" You're a lycan Raknok."
" Exactly."
" If I didn't like you, do you think I would let you in my bed?"
He says nothing to this as you two go back and forth with the bitter delight while the storm makes itself known. You wished to be able to have intercourse with him, but you would never force the children to endure such a thing.
" How's business?"
Raknok only knows so much for you try your best to keep that part of your life discreet.
" Slow. It is quite an adjustment to provide food for so many."
" Do..Do you need help? I don't have much-."
You shake your head as you're the type to never accept handout, and it sure as hell isn't going to start tonight.
" We'll be fine. Thank you for the concern though. It is kind of you."
" How much did you have to pay for them?"
You wish he would end this topic, but he appears to be unable to get them off his mind.
" Twelve hundred gold. I got all three for a deal. Hopefully, this change in my life will be for the better. I guess I do get lonely from time to time."
" It'll be a rough transitioning, but it'll be worth in the end. I promise."
You hope so feeling a sudden hand cupping your cheek as there's a rubble deep down in his chest. You hesitantly lean into it thinking of all the times that you two..... You tried to clear your head as you slowly place it back on the table. Raknok has an attachment towards you, and you couldn't quite understand what he saw in you as your heart is as cold as ice towards even him.
" You should be getting home Raknok."
He responds by squeezing your hand and rubbing his leg against your own. You think of his sky blue gaze and the texture of his long white fur pressed upon your skin. You craved his warmth, and you were tempted to ask him to stay the night. You, of course, have an overwhelming feeling to put up your guard, and it fights your desires forever making you a lonely person. In your silence, he understands standing up from his seat, but you had a realization that made you cock an eyebrow his way.
" Before you go, why were you just sitting at my table? That seems highly suspicious."
You could hear the embarrassment in his voice as the words flow out of his mouth quickly .
" I do that to prepare myself whenever I'm wanting to talk with you."
" I see."
With that, you were alone drinking away your thoughts.
