It's been a week since I met the Cullens, and I knew there were two more that I had yet to meet. I saw them from afar, Alice always smiled and tried inviting me over but I wasn't too sure about it. While I was walking to the lunchroom Alice skipped over and put her arm through mine. "Sit with us, please?" I laughed and shrugged, "Why not?" We walked in and I grabbed my tray before she pulled me over to their table. It was only her and Jasper so far, I sat down next to her, and she was next to Jasper. "Hey, Jasper, good to see you again." He nodded with a smile, "You too, Natalie." I could hear the door behind us open and looked to the side, seeing Emmett, Rosalie, and Edward walk in. They came over and sat down, I don't think Rosalie had noticed me yet.
Emmett gave me a fist bump and Edward looked at me a little confused before giving me a friendly smile. Rosalie finally looked at me, a bitchy glare on her face before it went away. Edward looked at her, eyebrows furrowed as she stared at me. I got a little self-conscious under her stare and cleared my throat, pulling my shirt down a little. She snapped out of whatever she was in, putting her hand out to me, "I'm Rosalie Hale, nice to meet you." I shook it, her skin felt warmer than the rest of them but still cold. "Natalie Stanley, nice to meet you Rose-Rosalie." She smiled at me, her eyes shining. "You can call me Rose, that's ok." I blushed and smiled, I realized we were still holding hands and pulled away slowly.
They looked at each other, almost speaking to each other. I started eating, I could see my friend group looking at me. Well friend group was a broad statement, the only friends I would say I had over there were Jess and Angela. I looked at Rosalie who smiled at me, I smiled back and finished my food. I got up and took care of it, Mike getting up at the same time and coming over. "Why don't you sit with us for the rest of lunch?" I looked at him and furrowed my eyebrows, "Why would I do that?" "Because we're your friends, they aren't." I looked at him, shaking my head. "The only friends I have at that table are Jessica and Angela, you are not one of them Mike. And whether they are my friends or not, that's not up to you, or anybody but me. Do you understand me? Go sit down, I will not be joining you." I pushed past him and sat back down, he sat back down and I could tell he was telling them.
I wasn't sure if he would tell them what I said exactly about them not being my friends, but I knew he would tell them that I refused to go over. I looked at Rosalie, she had a frustrated look on her face, and they all did. "Everything ok?" They nodded, "Yeah, we're good." I smiled and they smiled back, a part of me thought that maybe they knew what happened, I wasn't far from them and people were already gossiping quietly about what was said because of course they were. I looked at the time and sighed, "I gotta go, I got tryouts for wrestling. See you guys later," I smiled at them and got up, they said bye and Rosalie didn't seem like she wanted me to go. I walked out and headed out to the gym, I got dressed in what the flyer said I had to wear. I walked in and saw the captain and a couple of other guys in line.
The coach smiled as he saw me, I went in line and the captain looked at me before looking at the coach. They mumbled between each other before the captain ended up just shrugging. I ended up going first against one of the bigger guys, if I wasn't captain and hadn't won many championships in my last school I would think he was setting me up for failure. I knew he was, but he didn't know how good I was. The minute the coach whistled he tried tackling me to the ground, I overpowered him with my legs and flipped him onto his back. The coach whistled again and I got up, "Good job, Natalie!" I shook the kid's hand and we got back in line, I watched as the kid easily overpowered a couple of the guys before once again losing to someone as big as him.
Each guy I went against lost and I had yet to break a sweat, I wasn't bragging but this was easy work. The coach whistled and clapped his hands together, "Not only were these regular tryouts because some of the kids are graduating, but we were looking for a new captain. I didn't think we were going to find them so soon, but we did. Give it up for Natalie Stanley, your new captain! The rest of you come back at the end of the day and I will let you know if you made the team, Nick, head to class." I knew I was supposed to stay, I followed the coach into his office. "Ok, I already know you're gonna make the football team. Whether you'll be captain will depend on tryouts, I'm gonna order your captain wrestling fit and after football tryouts, we'll get your football." I nodded with a smile, "Thanks coach," He nodded at me, I gave him my sizes and headed out, going to my next class. Since tryouts were in my free period I had art, then another free period then home.
