NCIS had a case with DIA involvement but everyone was confused when it wasn't Kate that showed up. Instead it was another agent they've never met.
"Where's Kate?" Jane asked, frowning at the new agent.
"Officer Whistler doesn't work for the DIA anymore." The agent said calmly.
"What?!" Lucy asked, looking up, frowning.
The agent sighed and shook her head. "She left the DIA... transferred to the big leagues apparently."
Lucy reached into her pocket for her phone. She dialed Kate's number.
"Hello?" Kate's voice came through the line, but she sounded off.
"Kate, what happened, why did you leave the DIA?" Lucy asked, a soft frown on her face.
Kate sighed softly and Lucy could hear something in the background. "I can't talk right now."
"What do you mean you 'can't talk right now'?" Lucy asked.
"I'm kind of in the middle of something." Kate said just before Lucy heard gunfire.
"What was that noise?" Kai asked, frowning.
Lucy pulled her phone away and put it on speaker.
"Nice form, but you need to hold it like this." They heard a calm male voice fill the phone.
It was almost like Kate thought she'd hung up, but had instead just put her phone down.
"Like this?" Kate asked, her voice sounding unsure.
"Kate?" Lucy said into the phone.
There was silence on the other end followed by more gunfire.
"Kate?!" Lucy said louder.
"Is she in trouble?" Jane asked, moving closer to Lucy.
Lucy shrugged. "I have no idea."
"You're doing great, are you ready to move onto the physical portion?" The male voice caught their attention again.
Kate was silent before she spoke up. "I'm ready."
"Kate, what's going on?" Lucy asked into the phone.
That's when Kate seemed to realize she hadn't ended the call before the call disconnected.
"What the hell was that all about?" Lucy asked, staring at her phone.
Jane sighed and shook her head. "I don't know, but let's refocus on our case." She said calmly.
"Focus? How am I supposed to focus when she might be in danger?" Lucy muttered to herself.
"Ernie, trace Whistler's phone and send the location to Kai and Lucy." Jane said calmly before looking at the two agents. "Check on her and then get back here for the case."
Lucy looked up at Jane, feeling a little guilty for putting the case off.
Ernie quickly sent the location of Kate's phone to Kai.
Kai grabbed his keys and phone. "Lucy, let's go."
Lucy bit her lip before grabbing her things and following Kai.
They reached Kai's car and they pulled the door open, climbing in.
"From the looks of what Ernie sent me, she's at a training course for the FBI." Kai said, glancing over at Lucy.
Lucy was staring out of the window, not entirely listening to Kai.
Sighing, Kai started the car and pulled out of the parking spot, heading in the direction of the FBI training facility.
