It didn't take long to get to Jersey City from Newark, but once we got there, I was relieved. I was really hungry, but all we had in the kitchen part of the bus was Ritz crackers in the cabinet and a case of beer in the fridge, which I didn't want and even if I did, I couldn't have one. Gerard sat on the edge of my bunk, which was right below his.
"So Frank is going to take you around for a bit?" He asked.
"Yeah. We're going to go look around," I said.
"That's cool. But just please, stay out of trouble. I'm not trying to be too overprotective, it's just because you're my sister, and I love you,"
"Thanks Gerard. It's sweet for you to worry, but we'll be okay," I said. I hugged him and got out of the bus with the rest of the boys.
"We should go to that bar across the way," Ray said.
"Yeah I'm down for that," Gerard said.
"Well me and Scarlett are going to go look around for a bit," Frank said.
"Have fun," Mikey said. Frank and I walked down the road a bit.
"I'm gonna call a cab to take us to the Newport Center. It's a mall," Frank said.
"Oh nice! Maybe we could grab dinner when we're done shopping," I said.
"Yeah," Frank said. We talked for about 10 minutes, then the cab pulled up. Frank and I got in the back seat.
"Where do you want to go?" The cab driver asked.
"Newport center," Frank replied. The cab driver drove and told us about how he met his wife at Newport center. We tipped him extra for the cool story.
"I'm actually kinda hungry right now. There's a Johnny Rockets around the corner, is that ok?" Frank asked.
"Yeah, that sounds pretty good," I said. Then something weird happened. Frank held my hand. It was actually kinda nice, but I'm dating Andy, so it also felt kinda wrong. Once we found the restaurant, Frank let go of my hand and opened the door for me.
"Hello, welcome to Johnny Rockets, for how many?" The waitress asked.
"Just two," Frank replied. The waitress seated us and said she'd be back to take our drink orders.
"Thanks for doing this by the way," I said.
"No problem. I like taking pretty girls around with me. So, do you want to share a milkshake?"
"Um," I was still stunned by what he said. He said I was pretty, which made me feel good. "Yeah. Do you like cookies and cream?"
"Yeah that sounds really good, what are you going to order to eat?"
"Um, I was just going to get a cheeseburger and if you want we can share fries," I suggested.
"Yeah we could do that. And also, I'm glad that you're not one of those girls who orders water and salad and won't share a milkshake because they don't want to gain a goddamn ounce. That's cool," Frank said, smiling at me.
"Oh, thanks. I don't even like salad to be honest," I said, and we both laughed. The waitress came back and we ordered.
"So what's it like being Gerard and Mikey's sister?" Frank asked.
"It's cool, but people don't really notice me that much," I said.
"Well I noticed you, obviously," Frank said whilst blushing.
"Noticed me how?"
"Like, you're really pretty. And we've known each other since we started the band, which is almost six years. And I know you have a boyfriend, but I kinda just wanted to tell you that I like you,"
When he said that my heart started beating 100 times a minute, and I smiled.
"To be completely honest, I've liked you ever since the first time you came for band practice at our house. I was just afraid to tell you. And my boyfriend, we love each other but I know he sees other girls. He's in a band that's mostly popular around where we live. They're called Official Sacrifices. And when you're in a band that's not that well known, people meet you," I said.
"Yeah. I mean, I know I'm like 18, but whatever. Do you want to be my girlfriend?" Frank asked. Damn. The question. I didn't really want to dump Andy, but I didn't want to reject Frank. I mean, who would?
"Yeah. I'd love to. But how the hell are we supposed to tell Gerard?"
"Ooh. I didn't think about that. Um, how about we keep it secret for a bit and let him find out on his own," Frank said.
"Haha, sounds good," I said. The waitress then came with our food.
"Can I get you two anything else?" she asked.
"No, I think we're good," Frank said. "Dude, this food looks amazing,"
"I know. Lets try the milkshake" I said, sticking two straws in it. We both took a sip at the same time.
"Mm," Frank said.
"It's good. And so is everything else," I said. We ate and talked for about half an hour, and then we went shopping.
"I need a new Iron Maiden shirt. Wanna stop at Hot Topic real quick?" Frank asked.
"Do I? It's my favorite store," I said. Once we got there, we went straight to the wall of t-shirts.
"Hmm, I think I like this one," Frank said, pulling one out.
"I like it. What happened to your old one?" I asked.
"Well, it was white, and Gerard spilled beer on it when he was drunk," Frank said.
"Oh. I think he needs to cut off the alcohol. It's getting kinda serious, I'm worried about him,"
"Yeah. Maybe you should talk to him tonight,"
"Tonight? No way. I'm almost 100% sure he'll be drunk. They went to the bar, remember?"
"Oh yeah. Hey, look! There's a MCR shirt!" Frank pointed out.
"Oh, nice! You guys are really popular now," I said.
"Yeah. Hey, do you want something? I know you like Fall Out Boy. Do you want a bracelet of theirs or something?" Frank asked.
"No, you don't have to do that. I mean, you already bought me dinner,"
"This tour was my treat. I want to buy you something,"
"Okay if you insist," I said. I pulled out a red bracelet that said Fall Out Boy on it. Frank paid for the stuff, and we headed outside to catch the cab again.
"So tomorrow night you guys have a show?" I asked.
"Yeah. I'm pretty psyched. Oh, here's the cab," Frank said, opening the cab door for me as soon as we approached it.
"Did you guys play here last year?" I asked.
"No. We weren't big enough to get a gig here," Frank said.
"Oh. I think I'm going to stay backstage while you guys perform,"
"That's cool. You don't wanna be in the crowd?"
"Nah, I'd rather let one of your fans have the seat than me," The cab stopped, we paid the driver, and we walked over to the bus. When we got in, all we heard was a bunch of drunk guys.
"Go to bed, you guys!" I yelled.
"Fine. We will. But first I need another beer," Gerard said.
"No! Bed, no beer," I demanded. Once everyone was in their bunks, I went to the bathroom, took off my makeup, and headed to bed.
