I turn the stove burners off as I hear the doorbell ring. I rush to answer, and there everyone was. Literally. Everyone.
"Wow, you all came at the same time! Merry Christmas to all of you, come in," I gave everyone hugs as they came in. Frank's parents, then Gerard, Lindsey, Mikey, and Ray.
"Hey Scarlett, do you want the presents under the tree?" Gerard asked.
"Yeah that's be great. We're opening all of our presents tonight," I said. "Food is ready. I have hot chicken soup and French bread. I hope that you'll like it," Everyone took their coats off and set them on the rack as I went back into the kitchen to see if Frank was in there. He was.
"I'll serve food. Go say hi to everyone," I said.
"Hey Scarlett, do you need some help?" Lindsey asked.
"That's very nice of you to offer. That'd be great. It's so nice to meet you. Gerard has said so many great things about you," I said, placing soup in the bowl Lindsey held out for me.
"Aw, that's sweet. I've heard lots about you too. It's so nice to see a brother and sister have such a good relationship. I mean, Gerard and Mikey are like best friends. But you two have got something special," Lindsey and I served enough bowls for everyone.
"That's so nice of you to say. I'm really glad you came. I've been wanting to meet you since I don't really have many fellow females around here. It's a men's world," I laughed.
"I feel ya. I'm glad I'm here now so you don't feel so alone," Lindsey said, putting a bowl of soup at each table setting.
"Awe, Frank has the baby. He's precious, by the way. Mason, right?" She asked.
"Yup. He's a perfect baby. Only cries when he's hungry, needs a changing, or wakes up from a nap. He's our angel,"
"That's sweet. Well I've got everything set up, should we eat?"
"Yeah, thanks for the help," So we all ate, and we joked and talked for a while. Not much significant went on since we all had our mouths full of food. I ate fast so that I could feed Mason. I gave him a bottle and let him taste some of the broth from the soup, which he loved. When we finished, we all gathered around the tree for presents. I got everyone a present. Even Lindsey. I mean sure, she's not "family" but it would be rude to get a present for everyone except her. Plus I liked her. She was really sweet.
"Okay, so first present is to Mason from Gerard and Mikey," I read the tag on the gift bag. Frank pulled the paper out of the bag and pulled out the box inside.
"Is that a toddler guitar?" I asked.
"Yup. It has an amp and everything. I thought it was legit. I picked it out," Mikey said.
"Yeah. We really hope he likes it, when he's old enough to play with it," Gerard said.
"It's awesome. Thanks guys," Frank said. The next present was to Frank's family from Frank and I. We bought them a pretty centerpiece for their kitchen table. I thought that would be an appropriate gift. Frank then opened his present from me.
"Holy shit. You didn't, Scarlett. I've been wanting this for like ever," I bought Frank a high quality amplifier that he had been wanting for a really long time. It was the perfect gift.
"Merry Christmas babe," I said. Then I opened my gift from Frank. It was a pair of Fall out Boy tickets.
"Oh my god. Thank you so so much. It's exactly what I wanted, thank you," I gave Frank a kiss. Lindsey opened her present from me. I got her a record player. I figured she loved music. It was worth a shot.
"Wow Scarlett. Thank you so much. That's very generous,"
"It's no problem at all. Merry Christmas," Gerard smiled at me and mouthed "thank you." I mouthed "no prob," as he stood up.
"Okay guys, I've got a little bit of an announcement to make," Gerard said.
"Oh no. Gerard's pregnant," Frank joked. Everyone laughed as Gerard rolled his eyes.
"So uh, my present for Lindsey is very special," He got down on one knee, right in front of Lindsey and opened a small box with a beautiful diamond ring inside. Lindsey gasped and covered her mouth.
"Lindsey Ballato, will you marry me?" Gerard asked. The whole room was flooded with "awe's".
"You better hope she says yes," Ray joked. Everyone laughed again, followed by Lindsey's response.
"Yes. Of course I will," Lindsey stood up and kissed Gerard as we all applauded.
"And I will be taking her with me to our summer tour/ trip and we will be married on the beach of Malibu," Gerard announced.
"Oh my gosh, that sounds so fun! I can't wait. I'm so happy for you guys," I said, hugging the both of them.
"Well, this is truly an amazing Christmas. I've got everything important to me. My friends, my family, my child, my wife, and a great future ahead of me," Frank said.
"True that," Gerard said. We all cheered, finishing up the last bit of opening presents. It is true, how they say that bad can turn to good. Boy, has this whole year been a rollercoaster. But now, everything is perfect. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
