writer's memories

I'm a writer,
do you know what it means?
It means I feel nothing
'cause the paper feels for me.

I'm a writer,
do you know what it's like?
It's like building giant castles
out of fantasies and lies.

And I wish my dreams came true,
and I wish I didn't dream them,
because I feel like a fool
as I know they'll never leave me.

Oh, they live in their reality
and they'll never have to face
the chatting, looks and laughing
that I live with every day.

They might see a lot of suffering,
they may feel a lot of pain,
but they know they will be happy,
know they'll have a nicer end.

But I've never heard that promise,
no one's ever told me that,
and I can't help that it bothers me.
Don't they care 'bout me that much?

So I write about my troubles,
and I write about my feelings.
I create worlds with a pencil
just to quiet my screaming fears.

So my characters know love,
they know what it's like to feel it.
They are heroes made of gold
who forgive those who deceive them.

And they'll never know a pain
like the one I'm feeling now.
After all, they are just paper,
isn't that what this is 'bout?

I'm a writer,
did you know?
I write dreamscapes,
not real at all.

That breaks my heart,
but it's not my fault,
'cause... I'm a writer,
did you know?
