KASHI'S POV
Tomorrow is the Ganesha pooja, and the marriage rituals will begin. In fifteen days from tomorrow, I'll be married.
The growing anxiety in the pit of my stomach wasn't helping. On one side was Mr. Agnihotri, who left no stone unturned to get close to me, and on the other was Dhir, who didn't even bother to meet me before the wedding.
Dhir would call me, coincidentally always at his gym. Though it made me uncomfortable, I chose to ignore it. Our daytime texts were mere formalities—a quick "hi" and "how are you," and that was it.
Maybe he's not much of a talker, but his brother speaks a lot. I rolled my eyes, thinking about Mr. Agnihotri.
Five days ago, he was injured and ill. I didn't want to show any sympathy towards him, but old habits die hard. Gaining courage, I helped him out, just because he was my husband's brother. If he ever behaves inappropriately after our marriage, I'll make sure everyone knows.
As if he ever looks at you in a dirty way, my subconscious mocked. I bit my lip, realizing that he didn't—but wait, stop thinking about him! I scolded myself.
The wedding dresses for every function were sent by the Agnihotris. Nandini, on the other hand, was too busy with her own happiness and grooming herself in salons.
I planned to visit one after the pooja. Everyone was so engrossed in preparations that no one even spoke to me.
Mr. Agnihotri left after a day, and I was fast asleep, so I didn't know how he left. He came back the next day, and putting my ego aside, I let him sit on the bed, with a wide gap between us.
It was the first time I was in a room with a man, and it felt strange. Strange and unsettling because of his behaviour.
His green eyes are intimidating, but when he smiles, he looks human.
Stop thinking about his smile! I scolded my brain as I tried to focus on my skincare routine.
He might be sitting outside, I thought, rolling my eyes as I completed my daily routine and stepped out.
Sitting on the couch this time, I raised an eyebrow, observing him closely.
He had done strange things before—like putting anklets on me, kissing my feet, and even untying my sandals one night. Why did he act this way? It puzzled me.
As I started heading to the bed, he stood up, causing me to pause. His steps were slow and deliberate, with his lower lip caught between his teeth, giving him a vulnerable look.
He resembled a child who had lost his favorite toy.
Was this his true self, or was he intentionally behaving childishly to annoy me?
I couldn't voice my thoughts aloud; after all, he was a rich kid.
I rolled my eyes, giving him a questioning look.
