London, EnglandTravis laid there awake, hardly able to contain his excitement for that day. They were in London for Taylor's first set of the tour in Europe and they were also celebrating a huge milestone in their lives and family together. It was Luna's first birthday. That morning marked a whole year since they had been in that hospital in New York and the doctor had placed a pink little squirming baby into his arms who had grown into his most precious and prized achievements. He would have traded all four of his Super Bowl rings for Taylor and his little girl.
He glanced over at the clock on the nightstand next to him, signalling that it had just gone past 7am. This meant that it was most defiantly Luna's birthday and that she would also be waking up soon. They were staying in the same house they had stayed in the summer two years ago when Taylor had been completing the UK part of the Eras Tour. It had been in the bathroom that he now stood in where Taylor had sat on the phone with Blake and had taken the three pregnancy tests that confirmed that Taylor was pregnant and that they were indeed going to have a baby together finally. After all of the heartbreak of Taylor's miscarriage and the fears on having a healthy pregnancy, she had defied the odds. If he needed any more proof of the matter, he needed to look, or more over hear, no further. He could hear her cries from down the hallway and immediately set off to go calm her down. He knew that Taylor had had a hard time getting Luna to go down to bed the night before, being a new place and teething at the same time had caused her to become incredibly clingy and reluctant to go to sleep in her crib. But Travis hardly ever allowed Luna to sleep in their bed with them, knowing it from both a safety perspective but also from the fact that she would simply just get used to it ad then never sleep in her own bed again. Plus, Taylor had spent the rest of the evening assembling the entire downstairs area of the house into a party extravaganza. It looked as if a party store had thrown up down there but Travis let her get on with it, knowing that Luna wouldn't stay this little forever and it isn't just everyday that your baby girl turns a year old. Well she wasn't even a baby anymore. She was now classed as a toddle, that word frightening Travis. Because it meant that Luna was no longer so little and dependant on him anymore, and also toddlers meant the terrible twos would be fast approaching.
Travis cracked open the door, seeing the birthday girl stood up in her crib, her hair askew and tears falling down her rosy red cheeks.
"Hey baby girl. Happy Birthday." Travis smiled, pulling the toddler up and out of her crib as she snuggled into him with her trusted white bunny rabbit in her hand. Travis had made the rookie mistake of putting the bunny rabbit through the wash the week before and he had paid the price for it. Luna spent the following week going absolutley nowhere without her bunny, constantly rubbing it against her face to make sure that it began to smell like her again, and not like laundry detergent and fabric softener.
She flashed him a small smile from behind her bunny rabbit in her hands, excited by all of the sudden attention she was getting.
"You are a whole one year old today Lulu. How did you get to be so big hey." He gasped, placing a new diaper on her after he felt her old one was wet from that night. Once she was changed, he found the outfit that Taylor had picked out for her to wear that day for her birthday. A beautiful baby blue floral dress with a white Peter Pan collar that Taylor had bought from Harrods the day before when they had gone shopping. He lightly brushed through the top of her hair, deciding to leave the styling and wait for Taylor to wake up and do that for him. She was always so much better at that kind of thing than he was, most likely because she had years if practise doing it on herself.
He popped the toddler on his hip, her favourite blanket and his phone in the other hand and made his way back to their bedroom. They would be spending the day celebrating just the three of them, with the promise of a fully planned and busy birthday party when they returned to Kansas City. They had planned the tour dates around Luna's birthday as much as possible, choosing to celebrate Luna's birthday in London where it had all began for them on their parenting journey. However they had been luckily able to get a break between the Paris shows and the London shows to be able to go back to Kansas City in a few days to be able to spend time with family and friends and to celebrate Luna's birthday properly with everyone.
