I wake up and get startled by how close his face is to mine. But not in a gross way, in a way that my face flushes up and I can't believe it. I don't dare move because I don't want to wake him up, but I slowly sit up. I haven't slept that well in a long time. Which is kinda sad because I'm sleeping on a cold hard ground. I examine his features, his blonde hair, his sleeping figure. All of it seems so peaceful given the space we're in.
When Cato wakes up we eat a quick breakfast before packing up and going on the search again. Somehow we haven't said a word this morning but we have a unsaid understandment. We don't even need words. He holds my hand, the other his sword. He's looking from left to right obviously even more paranoid then ever. He knows that no one would be stupid enough to attack the careers, but knowing that I'm here probably makes him more nervous. Because that's exactly how I feel. I keep looking behind me, scared that someone is trying to sneak up on us. Knowing that there's even more at stake to us winning puts a massive weight on both our shoulders.
Still no luck as we walk around. Somehow I can't fathem how we haven't ran into where Katniss and Peeta are hiding. We check around the river where we thought Peeta was hiding before getting saved by Katniss. Nowhere.
We walk the perimeter of field and sure enough Thresh was still lerking in there. Foxface was still nowhere to be seen, which intimidated me. But I also wondered how she's able to feed herself. Surely she hasn't gotten that many sponsors to keep her fed. We're walking away from the field when Cladius' voice rings over the arena.
"Attention tributes, attention."
Our eyes meet each others right away as we wait for what he has to say.
"Commencing at sunrise, there will be a feast tomorrow at the Cornucopia. This will be no ordinary occasion. Each of you needs something, desperately. And we plan to be generous hosts."
Our armor, a chance to take out the rest of our opponents. But at the same time, medicine for Peeta, food for Foxface, and god knows what for Thresh. If we got this it would give us the win, but if Katniss got Peeta better there would be a chance for us to loose. If Thresh got whatever he needed it would probably boost his chances as well. There was no questioning it, we had to go. If not to get ours but to also make sure the others didn't get theirs. This feast will lure out everyone, everyone will be there no doubt.
We head over there. We've decided it's best for me to go in. I have long ranged attacks that can take someone out and then I'd be able to easily grab out bag and be gone. Cato will surround the perimeter, be there if I need help, and prevent anyone from getting their bags. This was the most logical thing we could do. When we reach the cornucopia we stay hidden in the trees. I sit on a stump while Cato looks in the sky.
Nigh-time falls and we still don't move. It gets incredible cold and I can't help but start shaking. I'm staring down at my feet while Cato lays there watching the stars. I don't move from my position for a while. For some reason my mind is thinking of all the things that could go wrong tomorrow. I get snapped out of my brain when I see Cato's arm reaching for me. He's motioning for a place next to him as he's set up all our sleeping gear. I slowly stand up and get into the sleeping bag. Without hesitation he wraps his arms around me. Thank god I'm not facing him because my cheeks are a bright red.
"Everythings going to be alright Clovie." He whispers. I nod, "I know."
"Is there anything I can say to distract your mind?" He asks.
I turn to look at him. "Maybe, you can try."
"Okay..." He sits and thinks for a bit and then looks me in the eye, "Do you like that I call you Clovie?"
I giggle, "I mean, it's what my dad always called me."
"Oh so bad!" He laughs.
"No! Not that it's bad. It's just that I haven't heard it been used like that in a long time. Usually when my mom would call me it I could get all crossed at her."
