Unexpected Proposal

Everything is packed, and the new apartment is ready. We are supposed to leave today, but Sakshi and I are sitting quietly in the living room, waiting for Teron to come back before we leave. I don't want to go without seeing him one last time.

But the closer the moment comes, the heavier my chest feels.

Living here is becoming dangerous for my heart. Every small moment with him has started meaning too much to me. The way he speaks to me, looks for me in a room, casually sits beside me, includes me in his world — I have grown attached before I even realize it.

And staying longer like this feels unfair.

To him.
To myself.

Because I don't know how much longer I could stay just friends with him.

I lowered my gaze, trying to hold myself together. Maybe this was for the best. We live in the same city, we can still stay friends. But somewhere, I knew things would change after today. People get busy. Life moves on.

And maybe this little world we accidentally created together was about to disappear.

The thought hurt more than I expected.

The door opened.

Teron walked in, but something about him felt different. Quieter. Thoughtful.

The previous night, after speaking to Mateo, his mind had unwillingly drifted back to the past — to relationship that exhausted him, feelings he had stopped believing in, and the walls he had built around himself ever since.

Mateo's words had stayed with him longer than expected.

She's genuine.
She cares about you.
And honestly? She loved you even before all of this. Before the fame. Before the success.

For the first time in a long while, Teron allowed himself to think about the possibility of letting someone in again.

And every time he thought about it... his mind returned to her.

To her kindness.
Her sincerity.
The comfort he felt around her.

And maybe Mateo was right.

Maybe being with someone like her wouldn't be such a bad thing after all.

His eyes found mine.

"Mansi?"

I looked up. "Hmm?"

He walked closer and sat down in front of me. Then softly, he took one of my hands into his.

For a moment, he looked unusually nervous, like he was carefully choosing every word before saying it.

Then he took a slow breath.

"I wasn't planning this."

My heart stopped.

"Actually, relationships were the last thing on my mind. But lately... you've been making me rethink a lot of things."

His fingers tightened slightly around mine.

"You're genuine. You're kind. I like you, and I really enjoy being around you," he said, pausing briefly before asking softly,

"So... would you like to be my girlfriend?"

For a moment, I genuinely felt like I had imagined it all

For a moment, I genuinely felt like I had imagined it all.

But when I looked into his eyes, there was no teasing. No hesitation.

He meant every word.

My heart was pounding so hard it almost hurt. It felt like God had finally answered my prayers.

"Yes," I blurted out instantly, as if he might change his mind if I didn't answer fast enough. "Yes, Yes, Yes."

We stare at each other, slowly moving closer, about to hug, when Mateo suddenly asks, "So... are they leaving or not?"

I blink, caught off guard by the question.

Teron speaks, "Yeah... about that..." He rubs the back of his neck lightly. "You could stay here. Both of you." After a short pause, he adds, "Unless you really, really want to leave."

Everyone turns toward him.

For a second, he almost looks uncomfortable with the sudden attention, but his eyes still find mine in the end.

Just minutes ago, I was preparing myself to walk out of this house and accept that whatever existed between us would eventually fade with time.

And now he is asking me to stay.

Sakshi looks at me knowingly from the side, already trying to hide her smile.

But honestly?

My heart made the decision long before I did.

So I look back at him and reply,

"I'd love to stay."
