The Unplanned Hug

It's been a week since we started dating, and I'm still on cloud nine. But there's one thing that keeps bothering me... we never really get time alone. Isn't that what girlfriends and boyfriends do? Wherever we go, it's always the four of us. I don't mind it. I just want him all to myself for some time.

Today, for instance, we're at a new café called "Sweet Secrets Café." As usual, all of us are together. I get up to check the menu and see what else they have besides coffee.

As I'm looking, Teron walks over and joins me. We end up standing close, deciding what to order. He's explaining something, but I'm completely lost in him. I should be listening, but my thoughts drift away the moment he's near. There's something about his presence that pulls my attention without effort... the way he stands, the way he speaks, even his cologne—it makes it hard to think straight.

My eyes drift without permission... from his eyes... to his lips... then to his chest, where the first button of his shirt is always unbuttoned, giving a slight peek. I can't focus at all. All I want is to get closer to him, to hug him, to hold him, just stay near him a little longer. I feel like I'm completely losing control of myself.

He suddenly pauses mid-sentence. "Hello? Are you even listening to me?"

I blink, pulled back into reality.

A beat of silence.

Then he tilts his head slightly, a faint smirk forming. "Wait... are you checking me out?"

My heart skips. Totally! I admit in my thoughts instantly.

Before I can even recover, he extends his hand slightly, showing me something. And I—completely misreading it—step forward and hug him.

Everything stops.

He goes silent.

I can hear his heartbeat.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I notice Mateo and Sakshi watching us. They're laughing softly, and Sakshi gives me a look like oh no... what did you just do?

That's when it hits me. I've misunderstood everything. Completely.

I pull back instantly, my face burning. I can't even look at him.

Oh God! How can I be so silly?

Before I can sink further into embarrassment, Teron gently pulls me back towards him. Not letting me stay stuck in that awkward moment... almost like he understands... almost like he's saving me from it.

His arms wrap around me.

In a second, all the embarrassment is gone. All I feel is warmth... safety... him.

In his arms, everything feels still. Like nothing else exists.

I wish time could stop right there, but this isn't home—we are in public, and people are watching

I wish time could stop right there, but this isn't home—we are in public, and people are watching.

Slowly, we pull apart.

We place the order and go back to the others. But I can still feel the atmosphere around us... a few glances, a few smiles, a little teasing energy in the air.

And somewhere in the back of my mind, a quiet thought lingers...
Did it mean anything to him too, or was he just saving me from the embarrassment?
