Finding My Act Of Love

12 1 2

People have their own ways of expressing love for their partners. I want mine too.

I want my actions to speak love... the way his do.

His fridge is always stocked with the food and drinks I like. He makes coffee for us. Whenever we eat together, he serves me first. He plans dates for us and always asks if I enjoyed them afterwards. Whenever I need to go somewhere, he'll drive me himself. And if he isn't around, he'll ask me to take the driver instead.

And me?

Well... I contribute in other ways. I wait for him to come home, eat with him, keep him company, listen to him, and admire him.

Sometimes, I leave him little notes. Tiny reminders of all the things I love about him.

But that's not what I mean here.

I want one little act of service that quietly says, "I care about you."

Sounds easy, right? Except... it really isn't.

He has helpers for almost everything. Cooking, laundry, cleaning... everything gets done. There isn't much left for me to do.

One day, he found me cleaning the room. Instead of appreciating it, he looked concerned and politely asked me to let the helpers do their job rather than tire myself out.

Another time, I decided to serve him dinner.

Let's just say... I ended up serving the table almost as much as I served his plate.

Everyone laughed because they all knew how much of a neat freak Teron is. Even something as simple as serving food looks elegant when he does it. Not a single drop falls outside the plate. Somehow, he masters everything he does.

Safe to say, serving dinner wasn't my thing either.

So I decided to try one thing almost every partner does for the person they love... cooking.

And there was a reason behind it.

Cooking is often considered a love language. It takes time, effort, and energy.

When you cook for someone, the food becomes a part of you.

It's never about the dish... it's about your version of it.

Like my mom's rajma chawal. I would choose it over any restaurant's version, any day. Everyone who has had it still talks about it.

My dad is famous for his kadhai paneer. Sometimes, I think relatives visit just for that.

And Mateo's hot chocolate — so yum. It's another thing I know him for, besides being Teron's best friend.

And Teron...

Honestly, he cooks everything so well that I'd happily eat whatever he makes. But if you ask me...

Nothing beats his cold coffee and creamy white sauce pasta.

I wanted Teron to remember me like that too.

But the truth was, I'd never cooked before.

The only things I knew how to make were Maggi, buttered toast, and bread with jam.

So today, after some thought, I decided to make grilled paneer wraps for him.

I searched for a recipe on YouTube and followed it exactly as shown. Most of the ingredients were already at home... except for the tortilla wraps, so I ordered a pack.

First, I washed and chopped all the vegetables. Then I prepared the dressing, marinated the paneer, and lightly grilled it. Everything was ready except for the wraps because I wanted to make them fresh right before serving.
