DESPITE THE EVENTS from two days the atmosphere in the Monkey was oddly peaceful, maybe it was just the calm before the storm but whatever it is Reef is just gonna roll with it. It's around midday and nearly forty-eight hours since Brandy killed the Capitol girl and Reef had expected some consequences to hit the tributes but so far nothing had happened.
Since the death of Brandy, Tanner has stuck to Reef and Mizzen like glue the only time she could get away from him was when they were escorted to the bathroom for their scheduled bathroom breaks but even then he'd be ready to talk her ears off when Reef got back.
Reef understood that grief affected people in different ways and this was just Tanner's way of grieving and Reef decided to just let him.
The pair from Four plus Tanner sat against the bars on the right side of the cage, if Tanner wanted to spend time with the pair from Four then Reef wanted to do it away from the now dried-up pool of blood that belonged to Brandy as she noticed the way he would just stare at it.
"Do you have horses in Ten? Have you ridden one?"Mizzen asks excitedly as Tanner has been sharing some stories from life back in Ten.
A seemingly genuine smile appeared on Tanner's face for the first time since Brandy died. "It's part of my job back in Ten, being a Ranch hand and all"Tanner explains.
"Awesome!"Mizzen exclaims. "Reef kills fish with her trident and then sells them to people"
"No she doesn't,"Tanner says casually.
The pair from Four turned and looked at Tanner like he had two heads. "What are you talking about Tan?"Reef questions.
"Fish aren't real so you can't of worked with them"Tanner continues to explain.
"What!"Mizzen exclaims.
The pair from Four burst out into loud laughter, other tributes look over and begin to wonder what is going on when they see Reef and Mizzen rolling around on the ground howling with laughter.
"Fish are real!"They both shout at Tanner at the same time as they continue to laugh.
Tanner looks at them confused, he'd believed his whole life that Fish was a myth and now he was beginning to realize this wasn't true and he began to feel stupid.
When Reef saw his face turning red with embarrassment she stopped laughing and looked at Tanner. "I didn't believe horses were real till I saw them in a book in one of my District history lessons back in four, I think it was all about Ten actually"Reef explains.
"At least me not believing in fish is realistic considering you never see them, but horses come on Ree that's just silly"Tanner tells her.
"Whatever makes you feel better Tan"Reef says with a smile on her face.
The group fell into a peaceful silence unaware of what the next hour would bring.
