REEF HAD ALWAYS been a light sleeper, growing up in her household with younger siblings it led Reef to always be on high alert when around her siblings, so any slight movement would have Reef wide awake.

She felt Mizzen move slightly next to her, and Reef's eyes immediately opened scanning the cart for danger, she saw Lamina and Treech sleeping peacefully Lamina's head resting on Treech's shoulder, Reef then looked down at Mizzen the young boy huddled tightly next to her.

"You okay, little fish?"Reef questions gently.

Mizzen looks up at her, fear flashing across his face. "I saw a rat"Mizzen tells her quietly.

Reef focuses again on the cart floor, and far back in the darkness, she sees the form of a rat a few feet from Treech and Lamina, small squeaks emit from the rat's mouth. Reef is used to rats those tiny bastards always end up somewhere in her household, most likely from the twins dropping food everywhere.

Reef smiles at the younger boy her arm tightening around him. "Don't worry Mizz, the rat is more scared of you than you are of him"Reef tells the boy confidently, the words of her father ringing in her mind.

Mizzen looks up at her curiously. "Who told you that, cuz that seems kinda stupid"Mizzen tells her honestly making his fear of the rat super clear.

A smile appears on Reef's face. "My dad,"Reef tells him, a laugh escaping from her lips as she noticed Mizzen's face turn red in embarrassment, she stops the boy before he can apologize. "Don't worry about it, I always thought it was kinda stupid too"

"Do you miss him?"Mizzen asks suddenly.

Reef looks down, playing with the sleeves of her jacket. "I do every day, I was about your age when he died,"Reef tells the young boy, a small tear falling down her face.

Mizzen reaches out and takes Reef's hand, he squeezes the older girl's hand in an attempt to comfort her. "I'm sorry,"Mizzen tells her quietly.

Reef quickly wipes away the tears, a fake smile forcing its way onto her face. "You have nothing to be sorry for Mizzen, I'm not the only one who lost someone,"Reef tells him honestly.

The two fall into a peaceful silence, the only sound being the tiny snores from Lamina.

"People said you were anti-social,"Mizzen tells her abruptly.

A snort erupts from Reef at Mizzen's abruptness but then she just smiles at him. "Oh, I am, just not with people I consider friends"Reef tells him smiling ear to ear.

A bright smile appears on Mizzen's face. "Were friends?"Mizzen asks with genuine hopefulness in his voice.

Reef gently messes with Mizzen's hair his hat haven falling off whilst Reef was asleep. "Of course we are, you idiot"Reef tells him.

"Thank you, you're my friend too,"Mizzen tells her quietly resting his head on the older girl's shoulder.
