Y/n's Pov:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 years Later.
A slap in the face with a pillow from my human alarm clock woke me up from my dream.
I was with a girl, I can still picture her face vividly in my mind. She had shoulder length chocolate brown hair, wide almond eyes, and mischievous smile, like she was always up to no good. Together we gossiped, laughed, played pranks, everything I had wished for in a girl friend.
Too bad it's not real.
Every waking moment, I wish a girl would just come out of that stupid box. Sure, I have Minho and Newt, but they're just not girls. I can't tell them everything. It's been two years and I haven't been able to complain to anyone about anything girl related. The box is just being cruel at this point.
I cover my head with my grey sheets, groaning and rolling over trying to get away from my alarm whom repeatedly smacks me over the head with a pillow.
"C'mon you lazy shank, get up." Newt demanded.
"But Newt" I drag out my words.
"Please, just five more minutes, I was having the best dream." I protest.
"No. Every time I give you five more minutes, it turns into an hour. Get up. Now."
"Fine, then get out, and stop hitting me with that pillow!" I say, shooing him out of the room.
"Alright, see you in half an hour." He puts his hands up in surrender, strolling out of my hut.
I groggily stand up from my bed, my vision dancing with black spots for a good minute before it cleared, and I search around my hut for something to wear. Today was my least favourite day of the month. Greenie day.
A year and a half ago, I just happened to be the one to greet a greenie when he came up from the box, and instead of the usual panic and terror they display, he seemed pretty calm.
I guess I just have a way with people.
Ever since then, I was tasked with the job of greeting the greenies. Alby calls it the "green and greet". It was entertaining the first few times, but now its just a chore. I'd rather be running the maze with Minho, searching every nook and cranny for a way out of this maze. I can't stand feeling like a sitting duck.
But today I don't get to run. So I lazily step out of my hut, slowly trudging over to the showers to cleanse myself. I take a quick cold shower to wake my brain up.
I still don't exactly have a mirror, but as you can imagine that after two years in the maze, I've gotten pretty crafty. I managed to polish a spare piece of metal to the point where I can see a decent reflection of myself in it.
I can't tell if I'm beautiful, I mean I've never seen another girl before, other than the one in my dream. Sometimes my appearance makes me insecure, especially in a glade full of boys, but I don't have anyone to talk to about it. I bet the girl in my dream would have understood me.
If only Newt didn't wake me up so soon. I thought spitefully.
Loud blaring coming from the center of the glade snaps out of my lonely thoughts. That's my cue.
