Reader's PoV:
Once again Eleanor and I had decided to leave work separately, I had been surprised that Eleanor hadn't needed much convincing this time, unlike on our first date, however Eleanor had made it quite clear that it would be the last time we would leave work separately, I completely understood, Eleanor explained that it felt like we were sneaking around, and that once's she has talked with Jackie, then she doesn't want to keep leaving work separately, of course I ended up agreeing.
This time I had been the one to leave work first and not Eleanor, I walked around the corner and down the street to the place we agreed Eleanor would pick me up, once I arrive where we agreed to meet, I take out my phone and text Eleanor to let her know I was waiting for her, within less than ten minutes, Eleanor's car pulled up next to me, Eleanor's driver jumped out of the car opening the door for me, I'm not going to lie, I could get use to this.
Climbing into the car, I slid across the back seat, so that I could sit next to Eleanor, without a word I give Eleanor a little kiss on her lips, before putting on my seatbelt than taking her hand in mine, intertwining our fingers, I meet Eleanor's eyes, she was smiling at me, I smile back at her, we fall into a comfortable silence, I'm amazed at how comfortable and relaxed I feel around Eleanor after a short amount of time.
"Do you mind if we stop of to buy some wine? I don't have any in my flat," I ask breaking the silence between us.
"Of course, I know this place that sells fantastic wine's," Eleanor tells me as she pushed the button above her head lowering the dark tinted window that separated us from her driver, she tells the driver to make a stop at a wine place with some fancy French name and I couldn't help wondering if Eleanor was still trying to impress me.
When we pulled up outside a deluxe looking store that I never knew was here, then again, I never had any reason to come to this part of town, we walk inside hand in hand and yes it, had a French feel to the place, as we walked through the store still hand in hand, I glanced around, there were grapevines hanging from the ceiling, they looked very realistic, there were wooden oak shelves along almost every wall, plus shelves that formed different isles, with all kinds of wine, Eleanor walked us to the far end of the store without looking at any of the wines, it was as if she knew what wine she wanted.
"This is one of my favourite wine's," Eleanor tells me as she picks up a bottle of wine and hands it to me, I look at the label, I recognise the writing as French though I cannot read French, I turn it over, looking for a price hoping I can afford to buy it for Eleanor, I frown when I don't see a price, meaning it must be a very expensive bottle of wine, "Don't worry, I will buy it as it's one of the more expensive wines," Eleanor tells me, I look at Eleanor for a moment and for the first time since we started seeing each other, Eleanor's money might be a problem especially since I don't have her kind of money, when I told Eleanor I didn't care she was rich I meant it, I still do, I just want to be able to buy her a nice meal and wine, I had told her tonight was on me and I mean it, Eleanor has a very generous heart, that was most likely why the people she use to date in the past only dated her for her money, not me, I want to take care of Eleanor with what I had to offer.
Putting the wine back on the shelve, I gently place my hand on Eleanor's cheek as I smile up at her, "Eleanor, tonight am paying I told you that, I'm sorry I cannot afford to buy you that bottle of wine, but surely there is a wine that you like that I could afford to buy," I said hoping she won't be to upset with me because I won't let her buy the wine she wants.
"You really don't care about my money, do you?" she asks me with a big smile on her face.
"No, I don't, what I do care about is that my girlfriend will let me buy her dinner and wine, even if it's not as expensive or as fancy as she is accustomed too, will you let me do that from time to time?" I asked then noticed the big smile on her face.
"The more affordable wine is over here," she says walking us over to the other side of the store, picking up another bottle of wine, still smiling like an idiot as she hands me the bottle, before I have a chance to look at it, Eleanor walks us over to the counter, where I pay, it was still a little more then I normally would pay for a bottle of wine, nonetheless I could afford it and it didn't break the bank, after paying for the wine, we get back into the car where Eleanor's driver was waiting for us.
"Why are you smiling like an idiot?" I ask her with a little eye roll.
"A couple of reasons," she says still smiling a big goofy smile.
"Are you going to tell me?" I ask as a smile appeared on my face as well.
"First, that you really don't care about my money it's very refreshing, second, that you want to spend your own money on me and are not afraid to tell me, third, and most importantly you called me your girlfriend," Eleanor tells me giving my hand a squeeze.
"Eleanor I just don't want the fact that you have more money than me to be a problem, If you want to take me out to these fancy restaurants and buy me a meal that cost a month rent then I will let you on the condition that you let me buy you dinner every now and then even though I cannot afford to take you to these fancy restaurants you are use to," I tell her as I feel like this is definitely something we need to talk about sooner rather than later, so we know where we stand and can just enjoy being together.
"and that right there is while I'm smiling like an idiot, make me more grateful that I found you," Eleanor says before pulling me into a kiss, making my heart pound in my chest as I feel we have just made a huge step in this relationship, needing to breathe, I pull back slightly resting our foreheads together.
"also the whole girlfriend, was just a slip of the tongue," I said with a chuckle, receiving a poke in my side from Eleanor.
