The ride back to the pack house was quiet, broken only by the soft hum of the car's engine and the occasional rustle of leaves as they passed by.
She stared out the window at the passing trees, the dense forest flashing by in a blur of green and brown. Calvin's fingers tapped a restless rhythm on the steering wheel, mimicking the beat from the song that played softly on the radio.
As they turned a corner, the enormous cabin of the pack house loomed into view, its grand facade stretching high into the sky, surrounded by towering trees that seemed to stand guard around it. Olivia didn't realize how big it actually was when she left earlier that morning, racing to get out of there as soon as possible. She couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as they approached, the sheer size and imposing presence of the building leaving her momentarily speechless.
The cabin stood like a monolith amidst the dense forest, its towering structure reaching towards the sky with a majestic air. The wooden exterior, weathered by years of exposure to the elements, bore the scars of time, yet retained an undeniable sense of strength and resilience.
The front of the cabin boasted a sprawling porch, its sturdy wooden beams extending outward to provide shelter from the elements. Olivia could imagine werewolves gathered here on warm summer nights, sharing stories beneath the twinkling stars.
Above the porch, a balcony adorned the second floor of the cabin, offering a bird's eye view of the surrounding forest. Olivia imagined herself standing there, gazing out at the vast expanse of greenery that stretched as far as the eye could see.
The cabin's roof was a vibrant shade of green, blending seamlessly with the lush canopy of trees surrounding it. It seemed to meld with the natural landscape as if the cabin itself were an extension of the forest it called home.
Calvin pulled into the gravel driveway and parked the car outside the house. Without a word, they both stepped out of the vehicle. Olivia took in the sight of the massive structure, its wooden exterior weathered by years of exposure to the elements. The scent of pine trees hung in the air, mingling with the earthy aroma of damp soil.
The best view of the house was seeing Felix waiting for them on the porch, his arms crossed and a scowl etched onto his features.
Felix's gaze bore into them as they approached, his eyes flickering with anger and annoyance. Olivia squared her shoulders, refusing to cower under his scrutiny. As they reached the porch, Felix's voice cut through the silence like a thunderclap.
"What the hell were you thinking, Calvin?" His voice was sharp, laced with frustration. "Taking her without my permission?"
Olivia's jaw clenched, she opened her mouth about to counter back but she shut it just as quickly. While she was excited to see Felix pissed off, she could also tell that Felix's mood was worse than it had been yesterday. That day, there was an end to his frustration then, today it seemed that his mood was a roaring fire that was unlikely to be extinguished easily.
Calvin waved him off and tried to pass Felix on the steps. Tried.
Felix put his hand on Calvin's chest, causing him to pause mid-step. Olivia could see the tension in Calvin's stance as Felix's hand made contact with his chest. She braced herself for what might come next, her own heart pounding in her chest. Felix's gaze shifted from Calvin to her, his expression unreadable.
The two werewolves stared at each other, a silent conversation passing between them. Olivia observed the silent exchange between Felix and Calvin, her senses on high alert. The tension in the air was palpable, each moment stretching out into an eternity as they stood frozen on the porch.
