It was evening by the time Felix, Calvin and Olivia met up around Main and Felix's wolf had finally calmed down enough. Hours passed and Felix's frustration grew as they ran every street and hid in every darkened alley. He had always prided himself on his ability to remain calm and collected in any situation, but tonight was different. The cryptic warnings from Ethan, the elusive Coven, and his wolf on edge—they all weighed heavily on his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into something far more dangerous than they anticipated.

They moved through the dimly lit streets of Brookside with a determined stride, Felix and Calvin's senses on high alert. The town, usually bustling with activity, felt eerily quiet tonight. The streetlights cast long, flickering shadows and the occasional rustle of leaves in the wind only heightened his sense of unease. He glanced back at Olivia, who was keeping pace beside him, her expression a mix of determination and exhaustion. Her hair was pulled high up in a bun with tendrils of hair escaping along the nape of her neck and at her temples. He had discovered she'd pull it up when she was focusing. Calvin was hovering over her, eyes scanning the surroundings.

Things were different now. He knew for certain that Olivia was being targeted by whatever beings. If she had been pulled aside by Sarah, the quiet girl who always sat next to her in class, then something was definitely amiss. And for the jackass of a wolf, Ethan, to even mention that the witches believe that she was in the thick of it all...

Felix knew that they were just in the beginning of something happening. Something that would shake the very foundation of his life.

"The Coven won't appreciate us poking around," Calvin said lowly, peeking over his shoulder as if a witch would pop out of thin air.

Felix nodded, his jaw set. "We've faced worse,"

Olivia remained silent, she shouldered her bookbag higher on her back and held the flashlight turned off in her hands like a weapon. Felix could sense her anxiety, and he felt a pang of guilt for dragging her into this mess. But they had no choice. She was at the very center of it all, and Felix was determined to find out why.

The answers they sought were out there, and they couldn't afford to back down now.

As they turned a corner, Felix caught a figure of a shadow in the distance. His heartbeat quickened, the faint hope of answers within reach. He signaled for them to pick up the pace. It could be a witch or someone that could lead them there. Felix slinked around the corner, ready to sprint.

Just then, Olivia tripped over something hidden in the shadows. She stumbled, her flashlight clattering to the ground with a loud thud. Felix nearly jumped out of his skin, his heart pounding in his chest.

"Olivia!" he whisper-shouted angrily, his voice barely controlled. "Stay quiet, for goddess sake!"

"It's not my fault you gave me the heaviest flashlight known to man!" She whispered with anger back, her green eyes illuminated in the night.

A growl threatened to rip through Felix. "Be better,"

Her face contorted with ire, voice rising slightly. "That's not what you were saying-"

"Let's take a break for a minute," Calvin suggested, his voice quiet. "We're all on edge. We need to gather our thoughts and regroup."

Felix opened his mouth to argue but then closed it, taking a deep breath. He knew Calvin was right. They couldn't afford to be reckless. He nodded reluctantly and motioned for them to step into the cover of a nearby alleyway. Olivia threw her bookbag on the ground and slumped with it against a building wall, her face pouting and eyes darkening as she looked at Felix.
