Olivia woke with a start when the door to her room pummeled open.
The sudden intrusion made Olivia jump, her heart racing as she sat up in bed, blinking away the remnants of sleep. Before she could even gather her bearings, two figures bounded into the room, their laughter filling the air.
"Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" one of the twins exclaimed, a mischievous glint in his eye as he bounced on the balls of his feet.
Olivia groaned, rubbing her eyes as she tried to make sense of the chaos unfolding around her. "What time is it?" she mumbled, her voice groggy with sleep.
"Time for you to get up," the other twin chimed in, a grin stretching across his face as he joined his brother in looking around the room. To their disappointment, Olivia had nothing in there other than her bookbag of belongings, which they respeceted enough to keep their noses out of that.
She remembered Calvin waking her up from their drive home. Half asleep, she had hobbled into the pack house as he showed her an unoccupied room away from the med bay rooms. She barely was able to get into night clothes before falling into the lush bed and thick covers.
Olivia threw the covers over her head, blocking out the light. "Why did you two come in here so early,"
"Because," This one sounded like Blyke. The one that always dragged out words, "It's almost noon and Mira told us to tell you to come to lunch,"
She peaked out over the covers. "You lie, there's no way it's noon."
The one who was looking outside at the window was Blaine. He stood with his hands in his pockets. His voice didn't hold nearly as much as the mischievousness as Blyke's did. He looked over his shoulder and gave a charming smile, "Scouts honor,"
Blyke ripped the covers off of Olivia and she let out a yelp, the cold biting her bare arms and the light seething into her eyes. Scrambling to cover herself, she glared at the twins. "Hey, that's not fair!"
The twins just laughed, unfazed by Olivia's indignation as they continued to tease her. "Come on, no time for beauty sleep," Blyke said with a smirk, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Olivia couldn't help but smile at their infectious energy despite how tired she was. The twins seemed full of life, breathed it almost. But as her eyes adjusted to the dim light filtering through the curtains, she noticed the curious looks they were exchanging, their gazes flickering to her arms and face.
"What's going on?" Olivia asked, her brow furrowing with confusion as she followed their gaze.
The twins shared a knowing look before one of them spoke up, his voice laced with playful mischief. "Oh, nothing much. Just admiring your artwork," he said, nodding towards Olivia's arms.
Olivia followed their gaze, her heart sinking as she saw the faint traces of cuts on her skin. She quickly pulled her sleeves down, trying to hide the evidence of last night from their prying eyes.
"It's nothing," Olivia muttered. Last night had been a long one, and something she hadn't deciphered yet. Between the creature attacking her and her shared moment with Felix, her head spun. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she avoided their gaze . Thinking about Felix that close to her, what was he thinking? "Just a little accident."
The twins exchanged a glance, their smiles widening into grins as they continued to tease her. "Sure, Olivia. Whatever you say," Blaine said, winking suggestively at her.
Oh, hell no. Olivia's cheeks burned even hotter at their implications, her mind racing as she tried to come up with a response. She knew she had to set the record straight before their imaginations ran wild with speculation.
