Olivia avoided breakfast that next morning and avoided running into Felix at all too. She could hear him in the kitchen and walking through the halls. His footsteps were heavy as he walked to and from whatever he was doing. She wasn't avoiding him for any obvious reason, that he knew, of course. It in fact was part of her own selfish dilemma that had raged inside her mind. She knew there were things between the two of them that went deeper than being just acquaintances or friends. However, it was Mira reaction that had her feeling flustered.
He had passed her door four times. Each time Olivia held her breath, waiting for him to enter into her room. Question her why she didn't go to breakfast, but he didn't. She was thankful he didn't because it would only make it all the harder to not kiss those sinful lips of his and stare into those endless eyes.
How the absolute fuck was she supposed to uphold her promise to Mira if she couldn't even be in the same room with Felix wanting to wrap her legs around him?
So instead, she pulled her bag together, took her meds, and asked Calvin if she could go to the library on campus to study. He regretfully agreed, explaining that he also had paperwork to read, but she knew that it wasn't his ideal way to spend his Friday.
And that's where they had been for the last few hours. Calvin read files and asked Olivia for her opinion about a few topics and Olivia nose deep in her MCAT study workbook. Lest Calvin knows that he was helping Olivia avoid Felix.
Olivia found solace in the quiet sanctuary of the library, the scent of old books and the faint hum of the air conditioning providing a comforting background to her thoughts. While the pack house library could offer her that too, she refused it be anywhere near Felix until she could sort out her emotions and feelings. Calvin, seated across from her, would occasionally glance up from his paperwork to ensure she was still there, but he mostly left her to her studies.
The stillness was a welcome contrast to the turmoil in her mind. Each time she thought about Felix, she tried to redirect her thoughts to the task at hand. The pressure of the upcoming MCAT was a useful distraction, demanding her full attention.
"Olivia, what do you think about this?" Calvin's voice broke through her concentration, pulling her back to the present. He pushed a stack of papers across the table towards her.
She took a moment to refocus, scanning the top page. Several pictures of people were in it along with information behind them. "It looks like a bunch of random people. What's the issue?"
"They're a bunch of wolves," Calvin sighed. "They're rogues. Meaning that they don't have a pack and sometimes they can cause quite the stir."
Olivia nodded, "And?"
Calvin tapped one of the pictures. It was a man who grinned at the camera. He had a few missing teeth and a vicious scar that ran across his nose. "He wants clearance to get into our pack with his family. But this guy-" Calvin tapped another picture of a man who had a soft smile and looked vaguely similar to the first man, except for the scar. "Has started an uprising against packs and has been on a killing spree as of late with a band of rogues. He's the brother of the first man, Gregory."
Olivia's eyebrows shot up. She didn't realize that Calvin and Felix were dealing with much more than the Coven and shadow bodies. The fact alone made her respect the two men all the much more. She probably would have ripped her hair out by now. She realized that her situation was a burden on them that shouldn't have been.
Calvin leaned back in his chair. "I've been mulling over the case of letting Gregory and his family join the pack. Mainly because I'm worried his brother would use him to get into our borders and kill some of our own."
