The drive was terse.

Olivia was quiet in the passenger seat, deep in thought. Her eyes trailed the passing scenery and her finger tapped absentmindedly on the doorrest. Her other was clenched tightly in her lap, nails biting into the skin.

Felix glanced at her every so often, concern growing with each mile. He wanted to comfort her, to break the silence, but he knew Olivia needed this time to gather her thoughts. He didn't dare reach across and hold her hand, afraid he'd break the afraid he'd break the fragile barrier. Instead, he focused on the road ahead, his own mind racing with questions and concerns.

Mainly like what the hell were they going to do?

At some point, he turned on the radio, hoping the music might ease the tension. Soft melodies filled the car, but Olivia remained silent, lost in her thoughts. Felix sighed, his fingers drumming on the steering wheel in time with the beat.

Suddenly, a familiar tune filled the car. His chest swelled and memories flooded his mind. The gentle melody of "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers seemed to cast a spell over him.

Visions of his parents dancing in the pack house filled his mind. He remembered how they would sway together, lost in each other's arms. At the time, Felix would groan and pretend to gag, but secretly, he had loved watching them. When they were much younger, Mira would gaze wistfully at her parents and sometimes join in on the dancing by wedging herself between their parents. The twins would try to change the song, but with one strong look from their mother, they would sulk away and watch with a begrudging look. Yet, if you looked close enough, a matching faint smile would be on both their lips.

He hoped that he one day could find a mate bond as strong as their parents.

"I've never heard you hum,"

Olivia's voice caught him off guard as he nearly swerved into the otherside of the road. Felix cleared his throat, he hadn't even realized he had been humming along to the song. Felix mustered a smile.

"Who's listening to who now?" Olivia stared at him with her eyebrows slightly raised, so he dropped his smile. "It's a song that was on repeat during my childhood,"

Olivia turned in her seat, studying him. "Really? So it's one of your favorite songs? Doesn't seem like your type of music,"

Felix felt his lips tug, "Sort of, it was my parents' wedding song."

Olivia's expression softened, her eyes reflecting the melody's warmth. "It's beautiful. Your parents must have had an exceptional... bond."

"They do," Felix said, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "I used to watch them dance to this song all the time. They were like... two parts of a whole."

Olivia made a noise like a hum, her fingers relaxing a bit on the doorrest. "I bet that was nice to see," she said softly, a hint of wistfulness in her voice. "Watching two people so deeply connected."

Felix nodded, his grip on the steering wheel tightening slightly as he navigated a curve in the road. "Yeah, it did. Even when I was younger and didn't understand it fully, I knew there was something special about what they had. Then I got older and..." Felix trailed off.

Olivia's gaze drifted back to the passing scenery, "I've always wondered what that kind of love feels like," she admitted quietly, almost to herself. "To be so connected to someone that everything else just... fades away."

Felix's heart ached at her words, a mix of longing and empathy swelling within him. He wanted to tell her that she could find that kind of connection, that she deserved it more than anyone. But he held back, sensing that this was not the moment to push.
