"oh! right." i grinned at the thought of joining
tidal wave. "so you know that band i have been practicing with? tidal wave?""mhm, they're pretty good. i went to one of their shows once with lisa, larry, and my dad once."
"they asked me if i could fill their guitarist spot."
eyes wide, sal looked back up from what he was doing. "no shit? that's really cool!"
"i thought i was dreaming when they asked me. all of them are really nice too. you should meet them."
"yeah? what are they like?"
"alex is the lead singer. i met him at that music store, but i think i already told you about that. he's pretty outgoing." sal nodded. i continued to speak. "vinnie's the bassist. i don't really know how to describe him. he's like a guy you would only see once, with a whole mysterious 'i'm better than you' vibe."
sal chuckled. "you got a crush on him or something?"
i playfully kicked his shin. "no! i feel like ash definitely would, though."
"of course she would, haha. go on."
"then there's jodi. she plays the drums. god, she's so cool. like effortlessly cool. honestly i thought she didn't like me at first. but she gave me this necklace today." i pulled out the necklace from under the shirt and held up the charm to show sal.
"that's perfect for you. i'm surprised you didn't already have something similar."
"thanks, it's pretty, right?"
sal nodded, then held up the bong. "you want the first hit?"
"yes please."
after we both took enough hits, sal set the bong down on the floor beside him. he gave me a side eye when he saw me coughing up a storm.
"jesus, are you good?" his laugh being held back was heard in his voice.
"um...... yeah.... totally!"
he got up and walked over to a little table, grabbing a metal water bottle. "here, i left this up here earlier today. it's water."
i hastily gulped down half of the water. it was probably the most refreshing thing i've ever had. "that was the best water ever."
he laughed. "fresh from the tap." suddenly, a gust of wind blew in from the hole where the ladder is. chills spread across my body. it was another reminder that fall was coming.
sal seemed to notice my shivering. "do you want a blanket?"
"um.... yes."
the blanket he got was soft and navy blue. he stood in front of me and draped it over my lap, letting me adjust it. "is that good?"
i nodded and settled into the bean bag. it was my personal heaven. being comfy with weed. sal sat back down and began to pack another bowl.
i began to zone out and gazed out the window up at the stars. that was another thing i liked about moving to nockfell. you could see the stars gleam.
