sal and i walked up to ash's car.
"finally! you guys took so long." ash smiled as she got into the driver's seat of the car.
"sorry." sal replied.
we all piled into the car and began on our way to school.
"sooooooo..." larry started. "what were you guys doing that made you take forever to get here, huh?" he smirked mischievously.
"i already told you dude. we were just smoking in your treehouse." sal sighed in annoyance.
he gasped dramatically. "smoking in my treehouse?? and no invite??? wow, my friends have betrayed me."
sal kicked larry's seat in front of him, to which he laughed in return. "i'm just fuckin' with you."
"so y/n, do you think school's gonna be any different for you?" todd inquired. he had been so silent i almost forgot he was here.
i sighed. "i have no clue honestly. i'm kind of nervous."
"don't be! it will be fine, you have us to protect you." ash giggled at me through the rear view window.
"i'm too high to even be dealing with anything new right now..." i groaned. and i truly was. my head was starting to spin since that weed was combining with anxiety.
sal chuckled. "can't handle your smoke?"
"shut up."
we talked amongst each other for the rest of the car ride. we parked and made our way up to the front entrance of the school.
larry playfully elbowed me. "surprised they aren't laying out the red carpet for you right now."
"oh whatever." i rolled my eyes. "it can't be that bad."
as i walked through the hallways, the only noticeable difference was the immense stares and whispers i got when i walked by. i had begun to wonder how many people at my school might've came to my show.
"alright, looks like we gotta split now. have fun y/nnnnn!" ash called out as she walked away with larry and todd. luckily i still had my first period with sal, so i wouldn't be completely alone.
we waved goodbye to them and then looked at each other. "you ready to go?" he asked.
"yeah."
we walked side by side to our class. and again... stares from all around.
later that class, my teacher was walking down the aisle of desk, handing back homework and graded assignments. when she passed mine back, there was a message at the top in red;
Amazing work at your performance this weekend!
i smiled. i held up the paper to the side and showed sal, who nodded in approval.
when the bell finally rung, i said my goodbyes to sal and went to my next class. i was a bit more uneasy this time since i didn't have sal with me. honestly, i didn't even know what i was afraid of! but the stares and whispers were just so.... obvious, that it just makes everything feel so awkward.
whatever.... only 4 more classes to go...
***
after an hour and a half of falling asleep during class, the bell finally rung for lunch. i was eager to see my friends again.
but this time, as i made my way through the hallways and to the cafeteria, random people i barely even knew just kept saying hi, or saying that i looked cool in the newspaper.
