Jessie sighed. "I've been thinking about this whole 'playing nice' plan I came up with..."

"You mean dat we came up with," Meowth corrected.

She groaned. "Yes we, Meowth..."

"I've always been da mastermind behind the group..."

"Right..."

It was clear to Meowth that Jessie was tired. If she had been herself, she would have corrected Meowth in half a second with some snide remark---not too harsh, but not too nice either, just enough to not be able to complain. And if you did, she'd always pull some excuse as to how she was in the right, and then you really couldn't fight back, since you'd know it'd just be a waste of time because she was never wrong unless it was convenient, because even then it would be your fault.

But Meowth---well, he and James both---knew Jessie couldn't be perfect. She had to be assertive and the most grounded one to be able to keep the group out of trouble---or, more like, out of trouble with Team Rocket in general. Trouble everywhere else seemed to follow them, but they had never been disbanded. And if that took her being just a bit narcissistic---well, a bit was being nice---then so be it. If it weren't for Jessie, the trio wouldn't exist, and even if it did as a duo, it would take less than a day to be arrested and disbanded forever.

But Meowth was just a pokemon, and James had good intentions. Maybe if it weren't for Jessie, they wouldn't be criminals at all!

But then he knew that wasn't right. Jessie didn't cause James to join Team Rocket. They just happened to be together by chance, and maybe that was still for the best.

Oh, and she was talking. As always. And Meowth wasn't listening.

"...and that brat of a trainer is always acting just like him, and frankly I don't think I can handle another James. But in the end, I know the potential is there." She sighed. "I suppose that's how I've been thinking a lot lately. About all of the missed potential...and I have a feeling it's only missed because James keeps corrupting it all!"

Meowth's ear twitched. "I don' tink James is weally corruptin' the traina, Jess...I mean, you must've noticed how close dey've gotten..."

"Yes, yes, I've noticed. And I'm about this close to bashing his head in...I mean, what gall does he have invading in on my plan? I should...I should..." Jessie groaned, "I don't know! But I need to do something before they...I don't know what they'll do! But I don't like it when they're together. Surely you feel the same way."

"Jessie...you eva tink dat maybe it'd be betta ta just have 'em as an...actual memba? An' not a servant?"

"That's the problem, Meowth! You and James keep thinking that way and it's wrong! You're letting that brat worm their way into Team Rocket so they can manipulate you into getting what they want!"

Right, Meowth thought, so...you.

"And I won't let that happen. I won't let me or any of my assets and possibilities be filtered and controlled by some pathetic nobody that I captured! How...how terrible would that make me look, Meowth?! Think about it!! That's about the worst thing I could ever think of!"

"Mhm."

"Don't give me that. I'm the only sane one here. I'm the only one realizing what's actually happening here! And it's the start of a revolt! And Meowth I swear if you join their little game you will remember it as the biggest mistake in your life."
